  • My fave too as it's closest to foobar, critically with the tagging interface I prefer. Have you added any additional plugins to your install? I tried adding a few (music library, Discord Rich Presence) but must be the right sort of stupid not to understand the instructions. facepalm

  • I've been using OLauncher for nearly a year, very clean and simple. Maybe too simple compared to Niagara but I dig it plus it's FOSS

  • The Klingon scene was easily my favourite moment of that episode, reaction was a millisecond of complete surprise followed by splitting of sides

  • I started using Pop OS at the start of the year and have managed to play the vast majority of games including Baldur's Gate 3. My hardware was similar to yours (though I've recently upgraded): 3700X, 1080Ti. Downloaded the version of Pop with the Nvidia drivers and ensured Steam Play was enabled for all games (to automatically utilise Proton).

I'd suggest trying the other Nvidia driver versions, as one of the other ones might work better with your 1070. Seem to recall I accidentally switched to one of the other versions Pop offers and had issues so maybe playing around with them will get some games working

  • Same as you friend, in fact the Deck helped me to realise that the vast majority of my games play fine on Linux doing nothing but enabling Steam Play for all other titles in Settings. That's literally all I had to do.

I know it's definitely not the same experience for others but I'm glad I could make the 100% jump to Linux. Especially with Cosmic on the way for PopOS!

  • Something better left to (say) the Culture books, rip Banks

  • Love it, also I finally cracked under the weight of your advent calendar posts and ordered the USS Thunderchild. If Blue Brixx release the USS Prometheus that's another purchase from me (see https://feddit.uk/comment/4417683)!

  • enough said.

    Jump
  • I feel fortunate that I don't rely on software that's not on Linux, unfortunately very much not the case for all

  • Probably just temporary image retention

  • Ah, nice bit of trivia there

  • Idk whether Proton or natively but no issues at all running it on Pop

  • I feel that, a good chunk of my friends are on Signal thankfully but all of my family still use WhatsApp

  • Oop yup, meant Constellation class

    1. Akira, a slick updated take on the Miranda imo! In my head canon this took over from that and the Excelsior class as the workhorse of the fleet.
    2. Species 8472 bio shop, still remember my original reaction of being blown away. Love that the profile reminds me of a missile
    3. Prometheus, though The Doc/Voyager crew were the heroes it was cool to see an ultra militaristic Starfleet vessel. Multi vector assault mode!
    4. Constitution: what can I say, I love a ship with 4 nacelles! Like the Excelsior, not very elegant from the top but it grabbed my attention as a kid.
    5. Nebula: the module on the top always intrigued me, I love that it's use can be changed to suit the current mission or role.
  • Very interested in this, my refurb Dell laptop with Pop has been perfect but I'd love to support Linux first hardware

  • I adore this episode, especially later on when the SNW crew go fan crazy over the NX-01 crew with those Boimler and Mariner grinning in the background. That and Boim's Section 31 fast walk

  • Mike McMahan is a lifelong Trekkie and it shows! Whilst I do wish the references to other shows were toned down a smidge in favour of building new lore I always enjoy them hah. "Not the 'Gazer!"
