You’ll find more people who you can relate to on Reddit if you’re a fairly normal person. Lemmy is still small and mostly an echo chamber as everyone shares the same opinions. Most of us simply came here because of the API issues.

I agree. I disagree with tone policing in mostly every regard and the ridiculous amount of sensitive people everywhere.

The locking happens because too many crybabies hit the report button. Of course civil discourse would be better but I don’t ever see that online. It only happens with a moderator between two people. Or between two people visibly online when they aren’t behind an anonymous nickname and actually have something to lose.

I’m not among a lot of right wing interactions unless I’m linked to something on X. The display there isn’t in the form of downvotes. It’s the extremely nasty comments with no basis in reality.

The media I consume shits on all candidates. I don’t like echo chamber environments. Which has honestly made it hard to stick it out with Lemmy.
