Checked out NIGHT AMBUSH last night. (Original title, ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT.) Didn't care for it at all. Considered a lesser Powell/Pressburger--Powell himself didn't like the film. "Watching the movie again years later, Powell complained that he "was surprised by how bad the film was..."
I don't have TCM, but I hope I'll get an opportunity to hear Paul's comments about his selections.
I'm an hour into HIS KIND OF WOMAN, but I've never been dazzled by Mitchum or Russell, unfortunately, so I'm struggling a bit with that one as well. đ
As much as I admire PTA's creative output, many of his recommendations have left me scratching my head. đ¤ˇââď¸

I get grief about being a pessimist (primarily from, yes, optimists), but both pessimism and optimism are strategies for coping with life's uncertainties. One works better for some, the other works better for others.

This is precisely the problem, yes. As a mod in my one sub, this is most often the only time I had to intervene -- when the tone of the conversation got rude, insulting, disrespectful. I would always think to myself, "Is that how you'd talk to that guy in person??". Mind boggling, indeed.
I'd go straight to Google and look up "Dr. Manhattan".
