Indeed. It doesn't happen too often, but the writers occasionally remembered to do something useful with her empath powers, like in the Samaritan ep where she's the first one to clock that the Pakled's are up to something. Ofc this comes a few minutes after Worf says something like "bro we really want to send Geordi over there?" and Riker's like "look at these dipshits he's gonna be fine" and then Troi is the one that figures it out. So must have been opposite day in the writer's room or something.

I don't think that any character got shittier writing than her, with the exception of maybe Yar's death, and even then I think you still have to give it to Troi because she's got many more episodes. But her episodes are the ones that are the most consistently bad. Data's are mostly great, Worf's also pretty solid, Geordi has some stinkers mostly because the only thing they could figure out to do with him is have him lust after an unavailable woman, Crusher only has a few that are hers and honorable mention for one of my bottom five TNG eps of all time, Sub Rosa, but Troi's are pretty much all stinkers. The only one that I can think of off of the top of my head that I like is the one where she decides to take the command test.

EVs are still going to be the wrong answer to the problem. Sure, more efficient than combustable, but still vastly less efficient than good public transport systems, walkable/bikeable cities, etc. If Elon really wanted to save the planet, he'd be building bullet trains.

If they wanted to compete today, they'd fork Android in a similar fashion to how Edge moved to Chromium.

If you're talking about WinCE/Pocket, etc, it was an extremely bad UI paradigm for a phone and a button free design in this case made it worse, not better and no one copied that especially not after the iPhone was announced and shown.

The last iteration of Windows Phone (eg: Metro) was actually quite good, but wouldn't have existed without iPhone/Android before it. It being more like iPhone wasn't what hurt it, what hurt it was that they never got the dev support needed. My wife had a Windows phone for around a year, and the thing that ultimately moved her to iPhone wasn't that she didn't like the phone, it was that she was constantly left out of things because it was probably more rare for an app to hit Windows Phone than Linux.

Microsoft did have the right idea with getting to mobile/tablets before most, but MS has never really had good taste when it comes to software UI.

At this point, I would believe nothing.

I'd encourage you to dig around after you set this up. It's basically setting up a docker compose file, and once you get how docker compose works, it's really, really easy to add your own services. Like if you use usenet, throwing sabnzbd in here is very simple. Or if for some reason you want to run plex and jellyfin at the same time.

No you can set it now so that by default apps only appear on the library rather than the home screen. I do pretty much the same as you describe - 1-2 pages of apps, then the rest for app library. For a bonus tip, one thing I've pretty much also done since the beginning of time is have a "home" page, a "work" page, a "travel" page, an "entertainment" page (or use folders instead of pages) but since you can create Focus modes and tie that to locations, times, and a bunch of other things, and you can also tie pages to focus modes, it allows me basically to pick up my phone that has a home screen catering to the mode I'm in without ever really thinking about it.

I honestly think it's mostly a problem with the idea that the Office apps are extremely bloated, kitchen sink apps. No one should be looking at Word or Libre Writer and thinking "I'm going to build a contracting system for my clients out of that" or "I bet I could make an inventory system in there" and yet...

You pretty much don't have to do that now on iOS either. They have the "App Library" feature which is similar to the drawer in android, I think (very little experience with Android.)

But yeah the general argument of "I want to do all of this tedious organization" eventually just scales back to "let me enter my own goddamn 1's and 0's."

I don't know that I would get too excited about a small, but growing, fascist movement forming its own party. Seems we've seen that one before, didn't seem to work out great.
