Do the job? No. Noticeably increase productivity, and reduce time spent on menial tasks? Yes.
I suspect the layoffs are partly motivated by the expectation that remaining workers will be able to handle a larger workload with the help of AI.
US companies in particular are also heavily outsourcing jobs overseas, for cheaper. They just don't like to be transparent about that aspect, so the AI excuse takes the focal point.
Standing your ground means being asked to stop by people who found it offensive, likely by feeling misgendered. I'm not surprised you were banned when you go to what's meant to be a safe space and misgender people despite being asked to stop.
None of what you just said actually happened, though.
I got banned from blahaj on my first week here, because I think "dude" isn't necessarily a gendered term, and was willing to stand my ground on it. Mind you none of this was actually said on a blahaj thread, they just went out of their way.
Editing to add: that 2tb of space is going to go bye bye quickly as well.
It kind of feels like you're trying to threaten or pressure others into agreeing with you, or bully administration into complying.
If you want to purge your own contributions, that's your prerogative.
If you're suggesting that you will nuke active communities that you moderate if administration doesn't comply with your demands, then you're not on the right side of this either, IMO.
I'm not trying to be unempathetic, I'm just trying to be zen.
