I like to think it's because our education has gone really downhill, but I realize some of these people are so old it's questionable how much they really know and understand. I'm genuinely baffled we don't have a simple doctor's check to see if people in retirement are still cognizant enough to vote responsibly- it's the same issue with driving.
They're incredibly naive people who think they have some defensible moral high ground because they didn't vote, but the truth is they've accomplished nothing and surrendered their vote to fascists. If they really cared they'd be out there calling their congressman and lobbying for a change in policy. Yes, this is hard, but no one said change would be easy. The only reason Biden won the previous election is because people went out and voted. The reason Trump won is because they didn't vote. And I bet these people will not take responsibility for his transgressions even though they are partly responsible. I cannot help but feel we deserve this pain because our population would rather take the hypothetical moral high ground over voting for the better candidate.
This. Obama can wear what color he wants at the White House and there should not be an issue, but he would be expected to follow dress code at a FUNERAL because it's common decency.
Imagine asking for documentation from this administration to do something legally (see: illegal deportations). Did you even read the article where the director from the Internet Archive had some words about the funding? Or the source article where they listed the cuts and even an a screenshot of a termination notice? Bootlicking is so sad. These morons aren't gonna help you
Even if you aren't big on Catholicism, do we think Jesus would advocate harming migrants to put yourself first? This is the guy who said the widow person donating two coppers is a exemplary person because they gave everything they had. From a Catholic pov, surely the right move would be to help migrants over enriching yourself.
Making people aware of their biases is not discrimination nor favoritism- it is removing favoritism for equal odds for everyone. In short, "here's a problem we have as a community- you should be aware of it when you are hiring so you treat people equally." It's clear you don't even understand the problem- you can't remove people's innate characteristics when they come to your work for an interview, so obviously you make it so the people interviewing are less biased. The only way to make people less biased is to inform them of their possible biases.
I'm confused how you think DEI is discrimination- its entire purpose is to make reviewers cognizant of their own biases to make hiring more based on merit. There is no quota. There is no agenda to put unqualified people on top
You know we are fucking cooked when the phrase is "defy trump" and not "holding discussions to fix tariff bill". They've lost all sense of responsibility to this fascist Russian asset and it's crazy they are just following orders like it's the 1930s.
This guy is no business leader- he bankrupt his own casinos multiple times and just stiffs people on payment. He's a grifter who happened to be born into money
With such a sharp divide, sometimes I wish we could separate north and south states. They can have their own country with no government "handouts" and we can have ours
Remember when they had Stephen Colbert roast GW during the dinner? That was peak comedy. These guys are such losers they know Trump won't be able to handle being roasted, and somehow that's OK for a world leader.
I mean we (anyone who has observed reality or knows history) already knew that. The poster above probably thought "tariffs = foreigner disadvantage". There's not really such a thing as a US-only car company so there is no advantage whatsoever to be gained- it's inevitable that these US car companies have global supply chains to take advantage of specialization, not to mention labor and parts only made overseas. Even if you could bring everything inhouse, everything would more expensive. There is no "more cars for less money" because not only do we not have all the parts manufactured in the US (meaning we're forced to import), but labor is more expensive. It's all a waste of time and resources
