We have tests, we have treatment, we have cultural awareness and more common preventative sex practices in at risk individuals, we have huge public health apparatus domestically and internationally to trace and track cases, we have drugs that keep HIV from turning into AIDS, we have drugs to "prep before you have sex" to prevent transmission. I think using the word AIDS and pandemic in the same sentence is a bit alarmist at this point. However I also think to say it's "cured" is also a step too far. It is a deadly communicable disease that we have made exponential strides in managing over the last 3 decades
They probably would, but that wouldn't prepare them for a life of listening to college lectures, corporate meetings, boring social events, etc that "drone at them." Giving a kid an unrealistic view of what adult life is and encouraging dependent personality disorder doesn't sound that healthy to me. For me, school absolutely made me do stuff I didn't want to do, and now in my 30s I see that's pretty much the definition of being an "adult"
I got a similar fanless PC that has an n305 processor, USB 3.2 and two m.2 slots. I'm trying to figure out how to use it as a nas for at least two 14tb drives + virtualization server, Plex server, arrs, home assistant, etc.
Do you use any drives connected to your beelink? I'm thinking about getting a DAS but they look kind of pricey and I've read horror stories about USB drives disconnecting. Seems like USB 3.2 speeds might help with that tho?
The business advertised something to differentiate itself from the free market, it's not the free markets fault if the business cannot sustain what it advertised

I've never heard this take on hippies but you make a compelling argument. I'm the US, Ive always blamed Gen X from withdrawing from the class struggle at large but it makes sense that the problem happened also with earlier generations. Arguably 3 generations after the labor movement in the US did very little to keep the fight going (though I will say civil rights has come very far during those generations)
You mean this part where the article doesn't say if the pros are going to have USB 3 or thunderbolt, and therefore I suspected it was going to be thunderbolt?
If you were going to bring the snark, at least bring the quote to help others too
Although the new info doesn't state what kind of speeds the Pro phones will offer, it's anticipated they will be in the neighborhood of USB 3.2, which tops out at 20Gb/s. At the same time, Apple currently uses a Thunderbolt 3 port on its iPad Pro, which can hit 40Gb/s. Even if Apple went with USB 3.0 for the base model (4.8Gb/s), it could still quadruple that by offering USB 3.2 on the Pro phones. But it sounds like the company isn't interested in providing fast transfer rates on its standard models.
I gotta say between the writers strike and switching to lemmy and mastodon, my mental health has been a lot better. I didn't realize how much watching clips of late night talk shows was giving me a "doom scrolling" effect. I'm also getting to catch up on a huge backlog of TV shows and movies I've been meaning to see. I definitely empathize with all the creatives losing their livelihood, but Im ok with this strike lasting until the execs start feeling some of the same pain.
