  • How are you accessing the site? Browser? App? Which one? And if you try accessing lemmy a different way, does the problem persist?

  • I had the problem too after jerboa updated itself. I logged out and logged back in again and that fixed it.

  • Oh no, not the heckin replaceable free labor

You're allowed to cuss on here.

    Shit fuck piss tit.

    See? Nobody cares.

  • IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: My account was not among those hacked. Any random bullshit appearing in my post/comment history was written by me.

  • I'll be damned, you're right, the carbon fiber was wound around a metal tube. My bad.

  • The hull consisted of a carbon fiber tube with titanium endcaps, one of which served as a door (which could not be opened from inside) and contained the porthole.

  • James Cameron, director of the Titanic film, once dove in a submersible to the deepest point in the ocean. So he has connections within the community of submersible designers. Regarding the loss of the Titan, Cameron gave an interview in which he said that he had heard second hand reports from people in the Titan support crew who said that the vessel encountered problems, aborted its dive, dropped ballast, and was attempting to ascend at the moment of the implosion. So the people on board knew what was happening, they probably heard sounds of the hull beginning to strain, although the implosion itself would have been instantaneous.

  • I had a TI-99/4A! I coded a game for it, you ran around fighting robots and you could find a blaster and a jetpack.

The TI-99/4A had a lot of techical problems which killed its performance. They released a little module that you could insert into the game slot, then you insert the game into the module - this improved the performance drastically. Unfortunately I only heard about it many years later, I didn't know about it at the time.

Somebody wrote an emulator which lets you run TI-99/4A games under windows or linux and I once tinkered with that and got my own game up and running again.

  • It's a bird... It's a plane...

  • It was around 2001 and I started by dual booting Windows with Red Hat, don't remember which version. Eventually I dropped Windows and dropped the dual boot and switched from Red Hat to Ubuntu.
