I think we agree on most of the points here, and now we're just getting defensive about tone, and details.
I was just trying to point out that nothing has a way it is supposed to be. There is what things are, and there is what we want. Yes you can use many of the features of our language to convince people of your opinion.
I myself don't like the idea of personifying the planet then imbuing it with opinions so I made the comment I did.
Not even a little bit. I fully believe humans are causing climate change. It is going to make life as we know it on this planet completely different in the very near future.
I still think the planet itself doesn't give a shit, and claiming there is a way it is "supposed to be" is pretty narrow minded.
After years of learning Spanish my brother pointed out that the word for umbrella, paraguas, is simply "for water". Similar to how parasol is "for sun".
Having once upon a time overfilled my oil by almost a quart, I think you are mostly right.
Engine oil should stay in the crankcase. During normal operation, some of it is pumped elsewhere to lubricate the crankshaft, cams, and other mechanical components. The rest of the oil sloshes and splashes around the crankcase keeping everything slippery. If there is too much excess in the crankcase, components moving can push the oil somewhere it shouldn't be.
In my case, when turning left, the excess oil was pushed passed the piston rings and burned in a huge cloud of blue smoke. It wasn't a proud moment, but stopping in a random service station and having Bruce try to drain a quart of oil out of the engine, because I couldn't afford a full oil change was awkward.
... Anyway: all of that to say this:
If you have too little, your oil pressure light will probably come on. If you have too much, you'll notice it somewhere else.
I've taken drugs and didn't really like the experience. I know some people who think they are a lot of fun. If you are taking drugs because you think it makes you cool, I think you are doing it wrong.
There is a shoe store where I used to live named Red's Shoe Barn. I was always hoping the correct lights would fail to make their sign read "ed's hoe Bar". To my knowledge it never happened, but I don't know.
Somewhat the opposite. My mom started "borrowing" money from me when I was a teenager. I was too trusting, but eventually i learned to say "no".
Fuck, I haven't thought about any of this in a long time. My mom was awful.

I forgot to explain why borrow was in quotes. Most of the time I never got paid back. I still believe she intended on paying me back, but was never able to get ahead financially enough to do it. In general if she borrowed less than $100 she'd get it back to me and pretty quickly. Over $100 it would take her too long to save it up and she'd forget about it.
What about phrasing it so the effort isn't on you, but them?
"I've never really felt comfortable around [describe group]". This way, the failure isn't yours to get comfortable, but on them to mwake you comfortable.
For me an email is when I don't need a quick response. A text is when I want a faster response but I don't want to interrupt what the other person is doing. A call is when I want a quick response and I think it's worth interrupting the person.
I bet the quality of this is also astronomical.
