Effective November 11, the updated API agreement introduces three key changes that provide Strava users with greater control, security, and a consistent experience:

Stronger Privacy Standards: Third-party apps may now only display a user’s Strava activity data to that specific user. Users will continue to have access to their personal Strava data across apps connected to our platform, though there may be differences in how this data appears.

Data Use Limitations: Our terms now explicitly prohibit third parties from using any data obtained via Strava’s API in artificial intelligence models or similar applications.

Protecting the Strava Experience: Additional terms have been added to protect Strava’s unique look and feel and functionality, helping users easily distinguish between Strava and third-party platforms.

Not that I use Strava or think anyone should, but the title is misleading no? It still allows third-party apps to still show you your own personal data and bans third-party apps from using that data in any machine learning.

  • If you disregard a belief because it is detrimental to yourself or others, then you are not in a religion, you are not in a cult, you just believe in what makes you comfortable and that is okay. Religion is fine, until it causes detriment to other people, which is what it has done in all of history.

Believe in what you like, just don't impose that on others. Live and let live.

  • Whether or not it was the direct cause in this case, fireworks cause a lot of animals a lot of stress and deaths do come from it.

I don't see why anyone needs to be able to buy explosives to use at home, firework shows should be organised in set locations and should use low noise fireworks as much as possible.

  • It's not the price that is the problem, it's how iCloud is integrated into the device, in a way Apple don't allow other cloud services to do. iCloud has access other apps simply do not, so they cannot compete fairly.

  • Yeah... but I think it's too late for Mastodon to be popular. Bluesky is already at the tipping point.

Mastodon just needed to sign you up to their own default server, power users could sign up to different ones and they would have still got the regulars in the door. Mastodon also needed twitter feature parity, something Bluesky also managed much faster.

Once people are in and settled, then they would start asking questions about that URL after their username, people would slowly become comfortable with the federation and understand it.

  • By definition of who? It's a nice word the USA would like to use for itself, but in reality it has no more influence than China, the EU and the Commonwealth. The truth is, the US will forever be a western ally, even if Trump would erode that somewhat through his rash decision making.

  • You are also underestimating how sites like SO really helped a new generation of programmers learn. Anyone could search and learn things, whether to take a serious approach or just for a bit of fun.

  • It's an election though, for the person to run your country. You have to put some research into the candidates, not just copy what sign someone else put out in their lawn. This unfortunately wasnt an election where you can just look at policies (one party just had ideas of a policy, and thats a major red flag), there's a bigger picture of who you are putting in power.

I agree with your points, they all make sense, but even if the democrats had a more aggressive anti-trump campaign, thet still wouldnt have seen it (maybe a tiny bit more likely to tho) or they would have already been indoctrinated into the cult and just ignore it.

Education systems should be teaching simple things like this to kids, everyone should know the importance of an election.

Another issue is people collectively thinking their 1 vote doesnt matter.

I hope you guys can take back your country in 2028.

  • Yeah, because apparently Americans don't look at the actual candidate, or listen to what they say. Trump told nothing but lies the whole campaign, just attacking democrats at rallies. He is a narcissistic bigot, a convicted felon. He's racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic. He's a fraudster, a misogynist, he hates democracy, literally said he would be a dictator, among many other extremely undesirable traits you would want in a leader. That's the entire point people are making while the media are ignoring all that and blaming the democrats for not being as radical.

It's absolutely insane that he got elected. Anyone with any sort of critical thinking would not even dream of voting for him.
