Yeah, I get that. Personally, it looks good for most of the content I watch and it's free content, I really can't complain. The compression these days is really good.
Yes, which is why extra bitrate is valuable (depending on the video content) and the higher the resolution the video is, the higher the bitrate is.
Which is why it is beneficial to watch a video at 4K even if you only have a 1080p screen.
Resolution is the same it has always been, they are just offering a higher bitrate stream with premium (except I think they offer 8K streams on premium? But like come on... who the fuck needs that).
Doesnt matter if the video is uploaded in 4K, you can watch that stream at 1080p with the same/better effect.
Depends on economies, they can't really charge like double minimum wage, so countries like India have "cheaper" subscriptions. So for a minimum wage worker, it's about the same in terms of expense (ignoring other bill differences).
So it's probably going to stay about the same for you.
The only reason I would pay is for the higher quality streaming, but I think the price is too steep for that, if they had a cheaper plan with just the streaming perk, then I would really consider subscribing.
You are right, it's all very impressive tech, but most UE5 games still suffer from TAA. Maybe at 4K+ it looks great, but at lower resolutions it's like the screen is coated in a thin layer of Vaseline. The push for realistic graphics, left graphical fidelity behind.
Oh yeah, they will still have "cheap" ones, but they will make these "Pro" versions more and more expensive.
PCs are a lot easier to use than they used to be, you don't have to mess around like you used to, just the initial setup (which is done for you if you buy a prebuilt one anyway).
But yeah, the initial cost puts people off, even though the long term savings are incredible. Ignoring the cheaper cost of games, just from the console online subscriptions over 5 years, you are saving over $400 (and the last generation of consoles was 8 years, so that's well over $600 of savings).
I'd highly recommend anyone tries PC, you have so much more freedom than you do on a console. There's a reason the PC market share is growing so fast.
The game awards is just an advertising show. I don't understand why anyone watches it.
Like any awards show, the awards are completely subjective anyway, so it's completely pointless to even care about them, it's not like an old gaming magazine's recommendations.
It's just a popularity contest, always has been. There's never any critical thinking behind the choices made.
