Shipmate, I am a Navigation Electronic Technician First Class Petty Officer, fully qualified in both submarines and in my rating. I have been on five strategic alert deterrent patrols over the last three years. I've been through fires, flooding, and steam line ruptures. When we set condition 1SQ for Strategic Launch during WSRT, I was the one at the consoles conducting the procedures to do so. I've been a helmsman, planesman, Strategic Navigation Technician, and Quartermaster of the Watch.

Of course I wouldn't have internet while submerged or at sea. Have you ever heard of in-port periods?

You know, as a member of the SSBN force, occasionally during thermonuclear launch exercises I take a moment to regret the death of humanity and the biosphere. All except the families, I'd assume. The families they just had their representatives casually mention how it would be a shame if their children should somehow end up sold to wealthy men in Russia with particularly young tastes in girls.

They have well-paid paramilitary-style guards that can arrange for you to tragically fall backwards onto twelve bullets from five different guns if they ever thought you were a threat.

To be fair, one of the interpretations of the apocalypse is called "Post-Tribulation Rapture", in which the faithful must first suffer the years of torment of the rest of the world, or at least 144 thousand of them, before Jesus returns and kills so many humans that the blood fills up the Armageddon up to the shoulder of a warhorse. She might be prepping for the tribulation.

So how do we reverse the trend? They didn't start out that way, like you said, it was designed. So how do we undermine those designs?

Absolute immortality for all who desire it, unaging, with the ability to appear and become anything you desire - male or female, anthropomorphic or otherwise. Dysmorphia, sickness, hunger, disease, all forgotten concepts of a distant past.

The very fabric of space and time bends, and any child can travel at whim to the heart of a star without harm, walk effortlessly upon the surface of a neutron star, explore the vastness of distant galaxies with a single step.

Those with conflicting philosophies can craft their own worlds, experimenting with what they believe things should be like, and compare their findings.

A pipe dream utopia? The science is there in theory, though separated from us by countless eons of time. Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, as Arthur C Clarke once said. Utility fog, ship of theseus style immortality and more await, if we can come together as one.

There's getting involved "officially", and then there's getting involved in practice. There's a very thin and blurry line there that may not actually exist. Did you think at the outset of this war that we'd be sending F-16s and Abrams tanks to Ukraine by late 2023?
