Also only paid out if you are in need of more than standard care. I live on $13,000/year due to disability and not qualifying for any other income than CPP. We are a family of five. I have difficulty with balance but I can walk. I have severe muscle spasms from neurological damage to my spine but that doesn't qualify me because I can walk on my own most days.

As a disabled person to qualify for the new disability benefit you must also qualify for the disability tax credit. Which has specific parameters to meet. If you are not severely disabled and have permanent issues with bodily functions or do not require supports you do not qualify. Period.

Not to mention, what do you do if your disability is mental?

There are many of us who are starving and homeless or near homelessness. Please help.

Just the usual. Easy for us to MAID but to get some dignity or respect is not ok.

Please help us speak up. No one is listening to us and we have no one representing us. Especially in government. Federal, provincial or municipal.

Regardless of what Drumpfkins heard or didn't hear from this man I am glad he had the balls to say it. In whatever language is important to him and his people. If more of us had this kind of courage our world would be a much better place. We need to applaud this man.

And that's why as citizens we have to force the issue. Do what you can to disrupt the every day actions of our government. Write letters, protest, go to your MP's office and voice your concerns loudly, make social media posts, join anti genocide groups. Talk to your neighbors and friends. Organize locally with like minded individuals. Support minorities in your community. Join a mutual aid organization. Volunteer at a food bank. There is a lot we can do to avoid the fate of our neighbors but we must act now. Most of what we can do is build relationships with our fellow Canadians of all religions, political parties, classes and organizations within our own communities. This will focus us on helping one another and those relationships across all lines thus fostering a stronger bond for us against our government inequality and the class war that has been instituted against us.

Do not be passive like our southern neighbors and just allow it to happen.

I worked in children's medicine in Alberta in the early 2000's where I was privy to large numbers of Alberta's kids health information. It was disturbing then how many were unvaccinated. I can't imagine what it's like now twenty five years later.

This country is as fucked as our neighbors to the south of our population doesn't start standing up to this bullshit. Hopefully the rest of the Ottawa parents go ape shit at the school and school board for this decision. Then when you win take to the hill and push there.

You are using an argument you have no idea about. You sound childish. Framing it to protect me and people like me is a cop out because you do not understand us at all or addiction and recovery so it's certainly not about that. It is evident in the way you speak and your ideas about people in situations like mine.

My comments were sarcasm. Obviously lost on you. To think that you could eliminate or hide everything that offends someone from life completely is also a childish outlook. It's simply not possible and most grown ups recognise this.

Alcoholic here. Booze at every restaurant, at every corner store, empty cans in the ditch, at every sporting event, liquor stores everywhere, every adult gathering I go to and most family ones too has booze, concerts, music venues even the movies have booze now. It need to all go. I don't want to see it. I also don't want to see maple magats, huge diesel trucks idling with no one in them, indigenous people being arrested,killed and harassed for existing, churches...I hate fucking churches...every single one needs to go. Google maps also has all those places. They're promoting hatred and alcoholism.

When I was a kid it was alcohol poisoning and lots of kids even in my rural community died in ditches and at bush parties. There were 300 kids in my high school. Grades 9-12. We had 6 deaths from alcohol. Either consumption or drunk driving. I'd be interested to know how many kids are dying from cannabis ingestion or accidents related to.

I keep telling everyone there's no politician or political party in this country who has the best interest of their constituents at heart. I also get down voted religiously.

Do them all. Let's not be singling anyone out or leaving anyone behind.

Maybe he could tell all the fascists, felons and murderers to stay home. Then again, he may yet be judged as one himself should his bills of supposed "progress" not be amended and pass through legislation. Perhaps he needs to make buddies in case too many Canadians catch on to his shenanigans.

They all want us dead. We live in extreme poverty through no fault of our own. Zero extended medical care in many places unless you need permanent care which means you pay out of pocket for medications, eye care and more. Even if you need extended care often you cannot afford it on the low amount of money you have allotted for that, or have to live in a less than ideal care home situation because it's cheap.

I am a disabled person who worked for 20+ years and had a very young family just prior to my sudden no fault disability. My income is less than half of extreme poverty for a single person in my area on federal disability payments. M Yet I have three children and I am married and I am expected to buy groceries, pay rent/mortgage and household bills, medication, clothing, kids activities maybe some kind of communication or entertainment if we are very lucky, with less than $12,000/year. If I manage to make some money from employment, I am limited to $6900/year or there is a possibility that my income will be cut off completely. If I volunteer more than 10 hours a week anywhere, I can also loose my disability payments. So no socializing either or feeling like you can fulfill some kind of role in society. If I do work or volunteer I must report my actions to the CPP board as if I were on parole. If I want to take a class or some other sort of "education for employment purposes" for my own benefit or to better myself, I also have to report in like a criminal and be judged wether I should retain my CPP payments. Perhaps I spend a good day in the garden puttering about but my nosey neighbor reports me. We grow a lot of food so we can feed our kids. We obviously have to. I could lose my CPP for doing laborious work regardless of the actual situation. No one cares.

This is also not taking into account that our extremely low income and medical care situation means our children also suffer unduly and then typically become problems for the system as well. If they do manage to get out, they are usually mired in debt to make it happen or have their own medical problems from a lack of medical care, lack of quality or quantities of food etc. as children.

There is not a politician or political party in the country advocating regularly for the disabled and their families. There is no one interested in helping us. The citizens of the country fall into this category as well. If massive volumes of people were suddenly thrust into our situation as many of us have been, they would literally revolt. Imagine having been born into your disability and dealing with this hatred and disdain your entire life. I can't even comprehend the hell those folks have to endure just to live.

Most people have no idea how fucked they would be if they slipped and fell or got some crazy kind of cancer that is so popular now. We disabled, are killing ourselves and publicly screaming on the national and international news at you. We tell you that we are doing it not because our lives are terrible and we can no longer manage but because we SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD TO LIVE!

WE CAN'T EAT.

WE CAN'T PAY OUR BILLS.

WE CAN'T AFFORD MEDICATION OR GLASSES FOR OUR KIDS.

WE HAVE NO VIABLE LIFE THOUGH WE ARE ALIVE.

All you see is a poor cripple in pain who must need to die no matter what we do or say. Our government as well. We martyr ourselves in the name of progress and it's a byline at the bottom of the news cycle you read and say "oh what a pity" then go watch tv or eat some chips.
