We use a Ball jar. We reused it from some sort of food product (honey, maybe?) but you can buy them empty. I believe it's the 32oz. size https://www.ballmasonjars.com/products/jars/canning-jars/ball%C2%AE-mason-jars-lids%2C-regular-mouth/SAP_62000.html.

We use a plastic lid because the metal lids are janky.

A 12oz bag of coffee empties perfectly into it. It's clear so it's very easy to see how much you have left.

I used Plex for a long time but moved to Jellyfin after reading about the general direction Plex is going (trying to commercialize it, partner up with industry, make it more than just a self hosted media service).

Both have what you're looking for.

I would say Plex is slightly easier and has the benefit of PlexAmp (available for Linux, Windows, and mobile).

That being said, Jellyfin is about the same ease to get set up, but it's just a tad less polished, but in sort of a nice way. It feels more like "yours", if that makes sense.

For both, I recommend hosting them in Docker, using Docker Compose, and using the LinuxServer version. LinuxServer maintains updated software, packaged in an easy to install format and they help you out with sample Docker Compose files and explanations to get things running.

That's a good reason. My reason is because it all sounds made up.

People look at expensive houses more often than not. You can definitely send someone, though, like if you're looking at a house in a different city and can't get there just for a showing. We did that once and had our friend do a video chat with us.

Retirement is a financial position, not an age. In the US you can start withdrawing social security at age 62 (at a reduced amount/month). They consider 67 to be full retirement age, meaning you get the largest amount (per month) if you wait until then. A lot of people treat that as their retirement plan, so it ties an age to when you stop working.

We decided to not host any sort of Buy-Sell-Trade community on our hobby instance for this reason. It's a small community so a lot of people know usernames of people they know and can trust. It's very easy for a scammer to use someone's username and say "I'll sell you that thing! Send me $150!".

There's a big difference in their performances, though. With Biden it was more a question of "is this guy even going to be alive in January?", vs Trump who's just the same old idiot he has always been, and just finally met his match.

It's all averages and statistics can always be spun however you want, but hopefully there's some truth to it. I don't even know what "household income" is limited to. If more people are moving in as roommates, for example, that's not a good thing, but does it raise the household average? I'm too lazy to look it up haha.

That's cool. This guy has a car payment and other loans, so his credit score is influenced by other factors.

Whether a persons credit score should be used for housing is an argument for another day.

I know we're going back and forth here, but that's ok. I'm very empathetic to his situation, and it's a situation shared by many. A lot of people don't want to hear solutions or preventative measures, they just want to go "awww" and wait for things to hopefully get better. That's a different type of empathy vs. my desire to affect change on the mans life. I want him to have a much better QOL. Pay is only a small piece of the puzzle.

I understand the point of the article 100%. Teachers don't get paid enough. Student loans. Medical debt. Predatory lending. The list goes on. It's the system that we live in (in the US and a lot of other places, I'm sure).

This person's story has a "shock" factor so it makes for a good way to spread the word about low teacher salaries. I just disagree with the low pay being one of the only reasons for him to him live in a car. There were many events and decisions made that lead to that result. People end up living in cars for a variety of reasons, no matter if they make $25k/yr. or $300k/yr. It all has to do with staying ahead and making good decisions. Shit happens, be ready.

It can hard to communicate tone with text, so I understand if I came across cold or harsh towards the guy. It's just a story as old as time, and I'm a huge fan of budgeting so I mention it whenever I can.
