  • That's what they are doing. Promising unconditional support for Harris despite her pushing for continued genocide has no leverage.

No. They are telling their constituent to vote third party as early voting is getting underway. They are literally setting fire to their political capital while there’s still six weeks to figure out something that both sides can be happy with.

Israel is a vassal state that depends on the support of the US.

I mean, if you truly believe that then I guess the whole system is compromised and you gotta burn it all down. But it’s not something that has actual salience outside conspiratorial circles and the people that amplify them for their own ends.

  • Seems like you're hinting that they should just accept that genocide is a fact of life for Muslims, instead of pressuring to change it.

Hell no. But this is politics. Taking your ball and going home gets you nothing.

If you have the power to swing Michigan you are the most important voters in the election that don’t live in Pennsylvania. You can leverage that into a deal.

But you are going to have to be clear that you’re asking. “Stop the genocide” isn’t it. She’s not the one killing people. The only person that can actually stop the genocide is Bibi. He’s not on the ballot in November. You have to make an ask and it’s gotta be clear and it’s got to be something that you can realistically get.

Also, the other guys need to be convinced you can hold up your own side of the deal. Can you deliver Michigan? Or are you just posturing?

The way I see it, this statement gets no progress on the first, and actively harms the second. After this statement, an endorsement from them would be worse than useless. If these organizations can’t deliver Michigan, the campaign will just roll the dice with the “moderates”.

    This statement is political malpractice.

Easy to say when you aren't the target.

    What the actual fuck dude.

  • Throw a device from s series into a fire as a spot check and if it burns it's ok, if it explodes give the entire series to your enemy's kids to play with.

Most high explosives burn unless detonated properly.

This is really basic stuff. I don’t think you should be out and about giving people advice about handling (potential) explosives.

  • This. The Brits have a first past the post system. Greens now are winning mayorships and parliament seats and making deals with labor not to split the vote in their favor because they have been building local support for decades.

They are a force in their districts, so they get elected to office in their districts. Do that to a few dozen districts and you can meaningfully affect the balance of power in Westminster. Then you start getting into coalitions and supplying ministers.

You can’t just wake up once every four years and hope to be anything but a spoiler candidate.

  • part of the reason we have AOC today is because the election registration process is accessible to people who have limited resources but a lot of enthusiasm.

You could not have picked a worse example for your position.

AOC crosses the Ts. She dots the Is. And she sure as shit DOES NOT SUBMIT THE WRONG FORM WHEN FILLING FOR AN ELECTION.

    These guys are no AOC.

  • Yes. The GP said all of that. The thing is, none of it matters. It’s the responsibility of the submitter to submit the correct forms. It’s bureaucracy 101.

Also, of course the forms are similar. They are from the same agency for a similar purpose. But details matter in this business.

  • They didn’t file the correct paperwork. They are not a victim here. They are ducking adults representing a ducking national party. You check the forms and make sure they are correct before you file them.

This is not hard. Every adult does it multiple times every year for all sorts of reasons. It’s a basic citizenship skill.

The fact that you can mess this up AND REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT like a ducking toddler makes it very clear they are not a serious political party.

  • I do agree with the uncommitted: voting third party because of Palestine is for idiots.

That said, if you are a political activist, and you think your one vote is the only thing you have to offer, you need a new ducking job.

  • There’s a pretty big omission in this article compared to other reporting: the fact that the uncommitted movement explicitly recommended not helping trump by not voting or voting third party.

In other words, they did endorse Harris. They just phrased it differently.

  • “Voting is just a way to pick the person that will be sitting across from me at the negotiation table next year”, is one of the ways to think about it.

Harris‘ policy on Israel is ambiguous, weak and too-little-too-late. But you’ll get further trying to influence her administration than Trump 2.0.
