People who use liberal as a slur typically object to the capitalist and/or free market parts, or as an insult to people who support the status quo since liberalism is the ruling ideology of today.
That’s an exceedingly charitable interpretation. My experience is that they pick and choose which meaning of liberal they mean after their harassment target has declared. They just use it as a catch all to put people down first.
Fuck, I mean, I’m a run of the mill European social Democrat and I get accused of being a “lib”. You can’t get further away on the political spectrum here without being an actual Nazi.
It’s a measure of whether folks in black areas in swing states have the energy and will to fight voter rolls purges, poll closures, spurious ID requirements, long lines and all the other voter suppression tactics that the so-called Supreme Court has been allowing since gutting the VRA.
I went in pretty skeptical, security claims in chat app land tend to be on the outlandish side. But I must say, you seem to be pretty realistic and open about stuff. I especially like the thought you put into your threat model document.
Honestly, I think it’s hard for an app like this to surpass the value that popular apps like signal and WhatsApp give casual users, especially because of network effects. But (given correct implementation, which is always a big caveat) I can definitely see something like this being “better” in specific circumstances for specific people, depending on who they can trust and who they don’t.
It's because we only shop online and in warehouses, it's because we have no choice but to not engage with anyone, it's because we're increasing our reliance on 6" in-our-face screens, it's because we don't ever need to leave the comfort of our home that our neighborhoods and society are doomed to crumble.
lol no. It’s because shopping in person is a hellish gauntlet designed to make the stock price go, not to make sure I can reliably and comfortably meet my material needs.
I don’t owe anyone anything, least of all fucking brick and mortar chain stores.
If that means the end of society, good fucking riddance. There’s nothing worth saving about retail.
I said no such thing. Also, I’m not taking questions at this time.
