  • Castle had a message afterward about domestic violence: “Women need to understand: Don’t accept this kind of behavior. It’s not OK.”

Oh yes, women need to understand this isn't okay. Fucking Jesus fucking wept, was this dickwipe trying to win Tone-Deaf Asshole Of The Century award?

Edit: okay, I had a visceral reaction to the statement and wasn't being fair to him in how I read it. I think he chose very poor words, but he's obviously not going to be eloquent at a time like that.

  • Intellectually honest in that they were open to having their minds changed through debate. Buckley saw his earlier positions were wrong, and regretted that he took them. This stands in contrast to the Republican party of today which is almost entirely dogmatic in its beliefs.

  • Ah, I didn't know there have been things that prevented the call from working (aside from the whole fall from grace storyline). I guess that's why I stopped reading comics. No consistency 😂

  • That actually gets around my questions above nicely. Moving Mjølnir ≠ using Mjølnir. If the hammer can be moved by natural forces, it's just a chunk of metal - it won't have the devastating impact it does when Thor throws it.

And I guess if Thor woke up and called the hammer back, it'd go regardless of natural forces acting on it.

  • Uru is a metal ore from the first moon in existence, and has existed since the beginning of the universe, being said to be rubble from the rock of creation and the strongest substance in all the realms. It is purportedly unique to Nidavellir, one of the Ten Worlds. It resembles stone, but it also appears to have metallic properties.

  • Edit: I think I found a good answer below. Even if natural forces could lift Mjølnir, the enchantment would not be in effect - getting beaned by a 40-something pound chunk of metal would still hurt, but it wouldn't hit as hard as it does when Thor uses it.

Ah, but Magneto's not the one lifting the hammer - he's directing magnetic fields that are doing the lifting!

So, could the wind pick up Thor's hammer, if it were strong enough? How about changes in gravity - is Mjølnir as hard to pick up on the moon as at the surface of the Arctic ocean (Earth's highest-gravity location, I couldn't find coordinates)?

If so, then I ask: is the magic of the hammer smart enough to know the difference between a primal force and a primal force that's doing someone a favour?

  • busting hundreds for the odd file you can prove they downloaded is expensive and takes forever.

And might well not be legally possible if all you have is an IP address, because lest we forget:

An IP is not an ID

  • There are alarm clocks that have a lamp built in, and instead of a loud alarm they play things like birdsong and rushing water at increasing volumes while brightening up the lamp to simulate dawn. I much prefer that to a nuclear launch siren, when I have to use an alarm. I don't like to post shopping links because I'm not an ad machine, but if you search around for "gentle wakeup alarm light" you'll definitely find some.

  • Right, so you've got all this experience and knowledge and all you want to do is complain that people get it wrong, you don't want to do anything to change that by say educating someone who's engaging in good faith. Consider my mistake noted, I'm no longer interested in anything you have to say about anything. You're not old, you're horrifically rude and unnecessarily aggressive. Good day.

  • I didn't assume anything, bud, I asked you two questions. The reason I wanted to know if you're familiar with QFT is because the analogy of song makes sense to me, in the context of QFT, and one reason to dismiss the analogy is if you don't know anything about QFT and think someone's just spouting hippy-dippy bullshit. I wanted to make sure it wasn't that.

It's too bad you don't like the song analogy. Maybe we'll find something on an even smaller scale shaped like dicks and then it'll be Quantum Dick Theory, and if someone comes up with poetic language to describe the universe in dicks that'll be popular too. That seems unlikely because of maths I don't understand, but whatever 🤷‍♀️

But, you don't like it because it stops making sense to you at some point. Cool. Am I allowed to ask what that point is and why it doesn't make sense past it, or do you just wanna tell me to go jerk off again?
