Bingo. The only "worthy" leftist movements in these people's minds are the ones that failed, because they weren't tested under real world conditions. Anarchism in the Spanish civil war, Allende, those are fine to glorify because they ultimately lost, and that way you can keep your moral high ground and standards by worshipping an idealised version of them rather than real-life socialism with material and historical costraints
Lmao, the Rojava are a minor movement in a very restricted area, and will exist for as long as the US is interested in their presence in the region.
how you got "doesnt support leftist movements" for defining tankie
Hey, I'm not the one denying every socialist experiment in history and decrying it as "authoritarian" without having done any serious study on it, and sharing the same point of view on it with libs.
Spoken like a true lib who hasn't grabbed a history book in their lives. You have done exactly ZERO study of this so-called "authoritarianism", its characteristics, actual comparisons with western systems, and the reasons for certain degrees of oppression in different systems. Your entire analysis is vibes-based, and doesn't hold up to the slightest scrutiny, and leads you to being on the side of the US Department of State propaganda on 99% of occasions. Remember, people called us tankies 20 years ago for opposing the invasion of Iraq, because "Saddam is a rabid dog".
Uh... Assuming you're from the west. The US was founded on slavery and genocide, and western Europe got to where it is through colonialism. What checks and safeguards did our countries ever have?
I don't know why you assume I'm gonna defend Putin though? He's a proto-fascist, I'm a communist, we don't go well together you see? Why did you start doing whataboutism immediately?
Well, don't disagree with me being a tankie because I am a tankie.
You're a shill for US imperialism by being against those who fought the hardest against it, and most if not all of your position on international policy falls in line with every guide point of the US Department of State. Using "tankie" as an insult you're aligning yourself in the wrong side of the Korean war, in the wrong side of the Vietnam war, in the wrong side of the war in Afghanistan, in the wrong side of the invasion of Iraq... Am I doing this right?
Censoring the far-right doesn't make it go away. It just pushes it underground where it becomes even more radical outside of the moderating influence of the mainstream.
I beg to differ. The situation was MUCH better in this regard in Western Europe 15-20 years ago when being openly far-right would get you socially ostracized for the most part, and media didn't routinely bring far-right mouthpieces on national TV.
That root cause is the total loss of faith institutions coupled with economic insecurity felt by the working class
I do agree with that though, that's why I'm a commie who wants economic security for everyone (i.e. guaranteed employment and housing) and strong and trustworthy institutions (such as powerful, free and public healthcare and education and pensions, and the end of austerity)
Hey, checking your conversation here, I'm sorry you have to constantly defend your existence because the mods here aren't doing their job of creating a safe space. You may want to check hexbear, their harsher moderation would have definitely not allowed this chain of comments to happen
Yeah, if only in either of those two countries people were seeing measurable improvements in their lives, approved of their government, and had hope for the future...
