  • Thanks for that! Yeah we tried promoting the community, but it never really got traction. With lemm.ee shutting down, it was either let it die or start over elsewhere, so I don't mind having someone else try :-)

  • Is there a single instance that allows using apps, other than the api test instance? PieFed is a good idea for desktop, but the mobile website is cumbersome to use.

I signed up with piefed.au several months ago now, but every time I try, I'm getting error 400 "alpha api not enabled".

  • No need, they'll do it for you in a few weeks...

  • I love it on infosec.pub, doesn't defederate from most instances unless they are particularly hostile, doesn't censor in itself, and hosts mostly tech/nerd communities.

  • Xubuntu is stable, lightweight, easy to install, and requires no tinkering. No idea about gaming, but I'd choose it over Debian and PopOS at any given time.

  • Age is just a number. Who cares.

  • Indeed. I must have overlooked it, I actually read articles.

  • Is that new? My play store country is set to India (so I can buy stuff dirt cheap) and that feature has been there as long as I remember.

  • Source? Never heard of that. German sources are fine as well.

  • Yep, from highschool onwards the education system is fully in English. It's pretty much an exact copy of the British system from that point on, thanks to the colonial past.

  • Finland has tuition free PhD programs for nationals of any country, Germany and Netherlands offer paid research positions where you basically are a full time student and still a part time lecturer - working hours can be tough though, since you need to balance the two. If you have some modest savings, Malaysia has some excellent universities and very cheap tuition (I'm doing my phd here and pay about 10k USD for a 3 year program) and cost of living is very low.

  • My wife is Chinese and we put copious amounts on almost all dishes, plain and raw. Never got any stomach problems - have you tried again to check if that was really the issue? Might have been another ingredient after all.

  • If I don't want something, I give nothing. Most fundraisers are pure extortion, and I can't be bothered to check if something is legit or lining someone's pocket. "No" is a full sentence.

  • That's how you get turned away at the border. Happened already.

  • Let's see if they can pull it off. Russians are extremely well versed in tech, and quite a resilient bunch. And the internet had already arrived at peak maturity when they retired to fence it in, making it way harder than in China where they managed to contain everything before it was too widespread.
