I left with my 14 year old account after they banned third party apps. Moderating large communities (1M+) with the official app was impossible, and I was moderating 3 of those, plus a bunch of smaller ones. I did Secret Santa 4 or 5 times (move countries frequently for my job, so it wasn't always feasible), and still have the Guinness World records certificate somewhere, plus a lot of free merch from the mod appreciation giveaways back when they weren't a shitcorp. Leaves quite the bad aftertaste.

Pretty sure that by now I'd have been banned as well, I never held back with dark humor and speaking out against evil corpos. In a way I'm glad I left on my own terms before it all went fully to hell.

Weird, youtube with ublock origin is all I need to enjoy no ads. Are you using some additional scripts that modify youtube in some way?

What about infosec.pub? Been my home instance ever since .world blocked piracy discussions, and I never had any issues there.

Use Firefox with the Chameleon addon, works on Fennec as well (Android fork with Mozilla telemetry removed).

What file types can't you burn to a DVD? Or in case you mean a file format that can be played natively on a DVD player, just get an authoring tool like dvdstyler that will convert any format into something you can play directly.

On the other hand most DVD players newer than 10 years will also just play mp4 without any issues.

They changed the phrasing, since in some jurisdictions "sharing anonymized data with partners" can apparently be interpreted as a sale of data, if they get something in return, even if it's not a fiscal payment.

But after the outrage that sparked, they've rephrased the policy again and wrote a lengthy article detailing the reasoning, which is at the very least plausible.

It's not terrible, but not a proper substitute. All the niche communities are very much dead. On the other hand you have an overload of leftist politics, linux, and gaming. Nothing inherently wrong with those either, but I'm missing a fair balance.

With the exception of nextcloud and firefox, those are all crap.

I've yet to meet a single person who likes and/or uses widgets. To me they are useless clutter that drain my battery.

Unfortunately there's hardly any American product I use here in Malaysia, so I can't make any sort of impact.

The only American things I use are various software applications I need for work (and no, as an employee I can't simply switch to FOSS).
