  • Back in April a bunch of us from work went over to Singapore to rig up backdeck equipment to mobilize this ship ready for work. Upon meeting the captain of the ship we had chartered for the operation, we learned that his last name was Kirk.

  • Waaaay to early to tell, really. We'll see how the next few hours pan out, and if I'm able to go home today.

I'm on a short business related trip. I finished City #1 yesterday, and I'm now in the airport, waiting for my ~1hr flight to City #2. I'm a night owl, so it's a miracle that I got up in time at 0600. I'm not really a breakfast person, but there too I went against my habits. Seeing as the hotel breakfast is both good and complement, Idecided to go for it, so that it'll last me a while.

I'm visiting my employers headquarters for the first time in ages because I have some stuff that I need to do there. If I finish early I'll link up with a former coworker of mine who now works for the competition.... I'm planning on joining him there.

If all goes according to plan, I'll be home shortly past midnight, roughly 18 hours from now. Currently enjoying a beer while waiting.

Update, 2.5 hours later: Landed in City #2, onboard the airport express train on my way to rhe head office. I plan on getting out of therevascfast as possible - I don't like staying there a minute more than necessary.

  • Curious myself. I played it shortly after launch, and while the atory and the worldbuilding was really great, the gameplay was flawed due to the severe lack of polish.

I concluded back when the DLC was announced that the game deserved a revisit, especially now that I have a proper PC on which to run it, so here I am.

  • It's enough to keep my phone and my bluetooth earbuds charged for two to three days, which is usually enough for me to arrive at my destination. Especially nowadays when you can charge stuff onboard airplanes.

  • As someone who travels a lot for a living, I have two chargers in my travel pack. Always. When I come home it stays there until I'm out and about again.

Other things that always stay in my carry-on kit:

    • Phone stand
    • Two pairs of socks
    • A t-shirt
    • A network cable
    • A bunch of USB sticks
    • 20000mAh battery bank
    • plastic fork (for eating cup noodles. I used to carry a metal one, but airport security somewhere didn't like it)
    • 13mm spanner
  • My private PC: a shell script for altering xmodmap more to my liking. Nothing else.

Work PC: endless excel files, text files with notes, a bunch of schematics in pdf format, new folder, new folder (1), aoeu.txt, misc shortcuts, a folder full of stuff I probably don't need anymore but shouldn't delete, a couple of work related pictures, a myriad ofbhalf-finished reports, a 4gig dd dump that I honestly don't remember making, only that it was important for later for.... something. Sometimes i take everything and stick it into a subfolder with a date as the name, in an attempt at cleaning up the desktop while keeping things that might still be important. I have five of these folders on the desktop. I ought to make a sixth.

  • The times I've gone to Sibgapore that sign makes me mentally go through my luggage, and I'm immediately reminded that I'm smuggling an obscene amount of snus (for personal use). It's no death penalty, but it's a pretty hefty fine.

  • I gave in to the hype and bought BG3. And this is the first time in ages where I've bought a brand new AAA game and not been disappointed.

I have a brand new PC, so it's about time I ran something more demanding than Factorio on it.
