  • This is a good explanation of it. The way that LLM’s are currently programmed is not how the human brain works.

The way the neural networks work in an LLM is creating chains of strings and certain sequences of strings are raised in probability based on rewards. Humans create chains of all sorts of things including concepts and ideas and although some neural networks are stronger than others, they can deviate based on reasoning that is not based on statistical patterns.

AI companies can only throw so much memory and processing power at an LLM, but they’ll eventually have to use a new technology.

This is an interesting next step

  • While the mechanisms of hallucination aren’t the same, it can absolutely and does happen with humans. Somebody ever tell you something they thought to be true and it wasn’t? I’m sure you’ve even done it yourself. Maybe later you realize that it might not be true or you got something confused with something else in your fleshy Rolodex.

  • Yeah. LAGU (los angeles guerilla unit) was able to fend off multiple units of troops with expensive food prices, no housing and a homelessness crisis. They won’t be back any time soon. JK, they’re just leaving cuz Trump secured funding for his gestapo now.

  • Sounds like a misunderstanding from the other party. It’s not always that bad. Welcome to Lemmy!

  • You could do the same morph into a regular state police officer.

  • Investors likely knew what was going to happen so they pulled out, bought the dip and profited.

  • I forgot he’s the head of CMS. What a circus.

  • I never break eye contact and even follow their head with my own to meet their gaze. I think people respond well to it.

  • Haha idk if it’s scary but def an idea dump before I fell asleep
