  • I do not get how you're so confused.

It's not that he was "entitled" to money, it's that money would have made taking his handle less of a dick move. Elon is a multi billionaire, he could have thrown a tens of thousands of dollars at this dude and had a good PR situation for his generosity, and not even noticed the dip in his bank account. Instead the story is that he's an asshole who treats his users like shit if they have something he wants.

So here we are, calling him an asshole. How is that confusing?

  • Wishing Mitch many more strokes in the future aside...

God I'm sick of these frail old people who only have half their brain functionality, who are so incredibly out of touch with the average American due to decades and decades of being a high ranking politician, who won't live long enough to even see what they've done to the world, let alone have to experience the suffering they've caused, still running this damned country instead of stepping aside for a younger generation.

And yes, I know, young conservatives aren't any better. But they're also less entrenched, they still have time to change their minds on things, they WILL live to see the destruction conservative policies will bring. It's not much but it's better than 1000yr old, dementia brained, stroke having puppets. Run by their staff, and still barely functioning. Mitch could have been the bestest politician ever and I'd still be here saying he's reached the point where he needs to retire to his rocking chair.

Again, wishing him every well deserved stroke he gets.

  • I don't often read the whole article, especially for something like a movie... But that was a really good read. I finished the whole thing.

Two beautiful men being really open and honest with each other, and the way they talk about people and their various struggles, and their own personal struggles, was refreshing and so wholesome. I wanted to hug them both.

It's definitely worth the time to read the whole thing. I'm glad they did this chat. I haven't seen The Whale, but now I really want to. It sounds really powerful and thoughtfully done. And Brendan Fraser deserves this comeback! Hopefully this movie puts him back in the game, I've missed him so much.

  • Ignoring what I assume is some anti-trans bullshit, do you understand the difference between force and consent?

If I choose to eat a hotdog that's nothing noteworthy, if someone forcefully shoves a hotdog down my throat it's assault.

Do you know understand what a hysterectomy does to a body? It's more than just lacking a uterus/no more baby making/no more periods. It's a major surgery that can come with major complications, including sending a person into early menopause, which starts a loss of fucking bone density. Would you be so casual about someone doing that to you or someone you love without their prior knowledge or consent?

Sit down and think of your favorite woman, whoever she may be, then picture her tearfully telling you she was given a major surgery by the government, that she did not want, that took away her ability to have children and sent her into early menopause. Would you be okay with someone making a casual joke about that? Would that be funny to you? I hope not. I hope you'd be able to empathize with her heartbreak.

  • I don't get it?

The OP was expressing how awkward sex would be with him being majorly attracted to boobs while the trans guy hates their boobs.

I don't think he literally meant he'd SAY THAT, especially on purpose.

Mostly I think he was saying it wouldn't be the best idea for him to date a trans man cuz he's not into dudes. He was just trying to be funny and paint a picture of awkwardness to explain why.

That's my reading of it, anyway.

  • I love how these donuts are so comfy that they can be used casually for over-itching/licking. I'd feel so cruel putting a regular cone on my dog just for over-licking. But the donut, while it annoys him, isn't so traumatic, or feel like as much of a punishment. Plus they can sleep with them on! Making them sleep in a cone is damn near heartbreaking.

Whoever invented these donuts is a genius.

  • If you haven't already I recommend you go ahead and get her a donut. We got a donut for the dogs when our second one got neutered, and one for the cat. The cat ended up with an abscess in his jaw a couple years later, and I was very grateful to have a soft thing to protect that area with from the very beginning.

The one for the dogs has also been used again twice, for hot spots, and it was nice to already have it on hand. You never know when these lovable dumbasses are gonna get hurt, is all I'm saying.

  • I don't have Twitter, so I don't know who the person in question is. I'm choosing to believe it's Elon himself. He's been one for skipping out on bills lately so that tracks.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this! That has to be nerve wracking! I hope it ends well!

  • I vote myself, but at the same time I understand the apathy especially from the younger generations.

You came out swinging with a lot of pent up frustration, dude. The other commenter says they do vote. I grant you they didn't mention the primary, but I have no reason to believe they don't vote in the primary, too.

So I also encourage others to do the same, but I don't look down on anyone for not voting.

I feel like this is where you meant to put your energy, since you said you DO look down on people who don't vote but do complain. But we need both kinds of people in the world. Some people respond better to patience, others to a kick in the butt. You're both doing it right as long as you're both trying to convince people to vote.

  • ... right. Because republicans control Texas and the grid. A grid that already killed people a couple years ago. A grid that people aren't convinced the republican leadership has fixed. A grid that's being heavily used under this heatwave. That just makes sense to me.

What else would you expect in the comments? I expect talk about climate change, the grid, and how republicans have fucked up both of those things. I don't expect people to be saying, "Sure is a scorcher today!", Or casual chats about lemonade recipes. Those days are gone.

  • 🤷🏼‍♀️ He hurts the right people, I guess.

And too many people who would vote against the current leadership don't vote at all. It's been really frustrating trying to convince some of my friends to vote. Even some LGBTQ+ friends of mine don't vote. I guess they think it doesn't matter, that better candidates won't win anyway. Voter apathy is a bitch, man.

  • That's an excellent argument for why we should have a nationally owned pharmaceutical option. The US government funds a bunch of the research anyway, we should just own production lines as well. Cut out the middle men.

We should set it up as USPS-like competition for the pharmaceutical industry. Then they can change what ever the fuck they want without literally killing people, cuz there will be a publicly owned backup.

  • ProPublica was able to determine that a vast majority of the challenges since SB 202 became law — about 89,000 of 100,000 — were submitted by just six right-wing activists...

Imagine having that much time on your hands... And I get that voting integrity is important, and mayyybe these 6 people actually believe they're protecting that, but with these numbers its gotta just be fishing and targeting people based on demographics, not evidence.

A spreadsheet attached to the email identified 13 people allegedly registered to vote at P.O. boxes in Forsyth County... Georgians are supposed to register at residential addresses, except in special circumstances. “Please consider this my request that a hearing be held to determine these voters’ eligibility to vote,” wrote the challenger...

For instance, it specifically says, "except in special circumstances", how does this dude know these 13 people didn't have special circumstances??

I know voter registration fuckery is the point, but how did they not provide rules regarding what constitutes evidence?? ... Well I guess I answered my own question at the beginning, but it's so frustrating.
