I always thought falling from a plane would be interesting. Scary, yes, but you have a few minutes to accept the inevitable. You would also have some hope to McGyver your way out of it, by trying to slow down your fall and land in a deep body of water. People have survived it.
I would probably close my eyes the last few seconds though.
See here for the new permissions the Simple mobile tools apps require after it was sold to an ad-company. I think that speaks for itself: https://programming.dev/post/8634202
Which is exactly why big companies can pressure normal people (and small companies) in not messing with them and basically can get away with anything.
Oh you gave us bad publicity, we'll sue you for defamation. Even if the chance of them winning is very slim, the risk of having to pay millions in legal fees is enough for most people to roll over. Sad, really.
I feel like this should be limited to what the losing party paid in legal fees, basically doubling it. It's not my fault they hired 200 high-end lawyers vs my single cheap one.
I also have this, once per day or so I get the notification and have to enable the connection again. It's only since I updated to Android 14. Don't know why, probably some battery optimization.
The problem with led bulbs is that they are build to operate at their limits. It's still within spec, but just barely which is why they break so quickly. If you would reduce the current by half they would last for decades.
But of course Big-Light doesn't want that, so after the initial well-build led bulbs became standard they switched to cheaper designs with less internal led modules for the same brightness.
Your comments on the Netherlands makes it sound like a war zone. That stuff happens occasionally in the 3 biggest cities (and usually during riots or in the bad neighborhoods), outside of those nothing happens. It is crowded though.
Probably just the voice actors, most of the time the pronunciation sucks.
Like in Oppenheimer where he suddenly talks Dutch, just complete gibberish and all the scientists are there smiling and nodding thinking "What an ass, thinks he can learn a language in a few weeks".
