  • But it is partially their fault: they have the largest political clout by generation so welfare and zoning policies have always suited them at the behest of everyone else.

    And even if people don't have kids, the rich aren't going to be impacted. They just use immigration as a stop gap until everything is automated away and we see wealth imbalance get taken to 11. I'm talking gated communities everywhere with poverty in-between (e.g South Africa)

  • Sadly, the age of garage tech startups is over, big tech made sure of that. They now just buy tech start ups with no intention of leveraging their innovations, but rather to maintain the status quo. Late stage capitalism...

  • Ugh, having been on the receiving end, this type of belittlement is the worst, and breeds resentment, factionalism, and a host of other toxic elements in the workplace.

    Irrespective of the validity of his critique, prima donna developers are the worst and I would start looking for jobs elsewhere because programming is already stressful enough, don't want to start worrying about the people.

  • Bill Gates hasn't really changed dude. He's just developed a thicker veneer. He's the largest landowner in the US now, because he's been buying up as much arable land as possible. He can say its BAU all he wants, it's incredibly sketchy af. Now in conjunction with this statement, its easy to see where once he cornered the software market, you could infer he's aspiring to do the same with food with full automation.

  • When you search or do any stable sort, I would think you want your primary attribute to be the one with most finite values? That way you are front loading the pruning of the search space.

    So it's actually on favor of Japanese style

  • windows updating the UI/UX with every new OS kills me. Wheres the 'fuck off' option when it asks for me to set up my personalization options and info?

    I just wish they would literally and continued supporting Win 7. Everything after is just subpar from a usability perspective imo.
