  • A mix of limited menu during the week, and food prepping are the biggest things.

If I know the upcoming week will be busy, I’ll batch cook on Sunday and just reheat the rest of the week.

Otherwise, learning simple recipes I can whip up quick. Practice makes perfect after all, and the more I cook, the faster I get.

Honestly, this might be a hot take but when it comes to food in the modern western world, people are really privileged lol. Why is the expectation that you eat something different every day for every meal?

  • How’s it any different than buying a new game though?

In the end, is paying $30 for DLC and getting another 50 hours of gameplay really that much worse than paying $60 for a new game?

As long as I actually use the DLC, to me it’s equivalent. I’m paying money to extend the hours of entertainment I’m getting.

  • It’s the dominant economic idea in the entire western world.

Even the Social democracies like Sweden are just a degree of neo liberalism. You won’t find most people saying they want communism.

If anything hardcore leftists are out of touch, including the OP.

You can downvote me all you want, but it’s no secret that this instance was essentially a communist refuge lol.

  • You’re right, this is an unpopular opinion.

    I find it funny that

    1. You care this much about what other people drive when it has nothing to do with safety.
    2. Think people even think about Elon when they buy a Tesla.
  • It’s complicated. A military coup happened against the King and put fascists in power. That’s when getting friendly with Germany happened. Later on the King regained control and that’s when Romania switched sides to the allies.

And lol no, I don’t think fighting on the axis is the reason why people have a sour view on Russians and the USSR. I think the way the Soviets treat people is the reason they have a bad reputation.

You think it’s an accident that as soon as the USSR broke up the bordering countries tried to join NATO asap?

  • I disagree. What made Reddit for me is that there were so many people on it, than any niche hobby had it’s own space.

Sure the main big subreddits were shit shows, but the hobby subreddits were great! Something that still isn’t a thing for Lemmy. Specialization.

I still find myself checking Reddit out for subreddits on specific niche games for example.

Like there is literally a subreddit for almost anything. Robot vacuums. Sins of a Solar Empire. Crusader kings. Fish tanks. MotoGP.

Things that probably will take a while to get running on Lemmy.

Right now Lemmy is too “general” for me to really have a feed of things I actually care about.

  • Tbh I never looked before all this went down (cause why would I lol), so maybe there were changes and it wasn’t a “all airbnbs are banned” sort of thing. Maybe it removed a lot of listings.

  • I agree with this. I honestly have no idea what people are convinced things are that much better lol. Feels no different than any post on Reddit.

Almost like its the same people in both.

And if anything, I already see click bait being perpetuated everywhere with massive upvotes. Misinformation is already starting. The one Threads post about Shadow accounts, clickbait title that Meta is creating shadow accounts for people. Hundreds of upvotes. No, it's called your instagram account, and its no secret.

  • When I was on Reddit, I responded to a guy in latestagecapitalism who was talking about how Stalin wasn't that bad, and how everything we hear about the Soviets is fake information, made up as Western Propaganda.

I chimed in telling him I'm Romanian, and how my grandpa was in WW2. I told him that my grandpa would always tell us anecdotes about how the Russians acted vs everyone else, and if anything it was worse than what we usually think of. Then I said that Stalin is too well known for it to all be fake.

Well the response I got was the guy called my grandpa a liar. Then like 10 minutes later, I got permanently banned from the subreddit.

That is when I learned what a Tankie was lol. And that the subreddit was infested with them.

I took one look at Lemmygrad, and oof.

  • No, I don't care at all. If I want to speak to Romanians, I go on r/Romania, r/RoCasual, etc. etc.

We are only 20 million people. Americans are 330 million, and its an English speaking site. I don't expect to see Romanians catered to in any way what so ever in the generic subs.
