Starlink, in some places in Germany is the only usable option. We have shitty infrastructure.

That doesn't really work that way and there is no forcing involved. Capacity is sold by the power plant operators and bought by the power companies who resell it then. As long as neighbouring zones pay more than Southern Sweden, power plant operators in Southern Sweden will sell their generation capacity at that higher price because they are not a charity but for profit companies.

Now, grid operators in Southern Sweden could show them the middle finger and buy capacity from Central Sweden, but that's apparently not possible because not enough power lines exist to actually transfer the energy from there. So, grid operators in the South are stuck with the higher prices that someone else pays as well.

And even if you just want to blame the Germans for everything, check the distribution of exports from the South Sweden zone before making that claim: https://app.electricitymaps.com/

I'm counting nine countries though that don't have market zones:

And I'm not sure yet how high prices (or rather not high prices at the time of the screenshot) in southern Sweden are linked to Germany not being separated into more than one zone. If Sweden could transport their energy from North to South, the South would be able to use the cheaper energy from there, but apparently that isn't possible at the moment.

Not to mention that the eu mandated market zones only applies when you aren't Germany, because of reasons.

Sweden pays for having not enough inner country power lines. Look at the differences within their various market zones.

Snaps also can't be mirrored locally or lifecycle controlled in an enterprise environment, as the server portion isn't open source.

The point is: With OnShape, I'm able to wing it. Scan something, load the STL, define a few planes throughout the whole thing, freehand a few lines, extrude, offset here and there for clearance, print, forget. With FreeCAD I need to do it correctly and, as I just need a physical thing, I just don't have the patience to find out what correctly would mean.

In my experience I have two possible decision paths: Do something using a commercial solution, OnShape in my case or try to do something using FreeCAD, get nowhere, look up tutorials, get somewhere but nowhere near what I need, give up, everything collects dust in the corner.

I get the free software idea and spirit, but I'd rather actually be able to just draw and print things I need. Between work, having a house, friends, voluntary firefighting, building automation for tasks in our little village and everything else the day only has about 24 hours and I can't just cut sleep anymore as I did in my twenties.

I don't think they like to be talked to that directly.

Nah, I'm living outside the US, my home is made from proper bricks and concrete. A bit slower to build but rather good when it comes to sound insulation. I could imagine with those strand board walls that might be a problem though.

I've found that the only thing you can hear through a closed basement door are noisy high speed fans, e.g. from used 19" servers, disks produce much less noise.
