Tons of software only runs on Windows. At home you can get around this with things like Proton, but in the Enterprise you need support contracts, which means you need Windows.

Mine are comfortable, but after less than a year the lining has holes worn through in several spots.

Agreed. Most of the devs I've seen at work that use it aren't checking anything, and as a result their code is even more garbage than normal.

Our idiot principal for my first two years tried to come up with his own rule that shirts had to be tucked in. The written rule added the caveat "if it was designed to be tucked in". I purposely bought shirts that said they were not intended to be tucked in just so I could be a problem, and then made sure other people know which ones to buy.

I always told my kid to fight back, and I'd have their back. More parents should be that way. Same way too many kids get beat up in HS because they were afraid to fight back.

Same. I have a list of questions on various topics, I'll ask a basic one about most technologies listed on a resume, and follow up if the answer is good until I reach a question they can't answer, or I'm satisfied that they know the subject matter well.

I name them based on what they do. Makes it easy for me to guess the name of a server if I don't have it memorized.

Have to stay in Eastern time zone. Initially I was looking at NC, but that has gone downhill lately. My kid wants us to look at Vermont or Maine, but I'm leaning towards Virginia. We tend to avoid large cities, so NJ and DC are out.

Flop Florida and Tennessee, and bump Mississippi to the top. Florida is way worse than Tennessee, so glad I left the one for the other. Still need to find somewhere better long term though.
