  • Nicotine helps with neural degeneration and things like dementia and alzheimers.

  • They had this in SF a few years ago. The whole "museum" was really shoddy and a big disappointment.

  • I dunno what to tell you man. Read the other comments from non white posters in this thread. 90% of them are agreeing with my lived experience, questions like that come across as thinly veiled racism. You don't get to tell people of color what we should take as offensive or not. If you can't understand that, it's on you. Try thinking about it rather than getting defensive.

  • I'm glad you've got the freedom to say whatever you want and be like "oh dang sorry didn't mean to offend you" (and act like a victim when you get called out on your language being offensive). For those of us who aren't white we don't get such luxuries. Aka your actions (whether you mean it or not doesn't fucking matter) are RACIST

Edit cause I'll actually engage instead of being pissed. You are saying very explicitly with that question that Asian folks don't belong in the south, are alien to it, and are a curiosity. As a south Asian who lived in the south for a number of years the number of yokel ass motherfuckers who had the same attitude is too many to count (dwarfed only by the number of people who were just straight up explicitly racist). We aren't here to satiate your curiosity and if you can't grasp that I dunno what to tell you. Grand on you for being an enlightened centrist, asking a "foreign" person where they are really from (esp in a place with a strong history of systemic racism like the south) ain't cool, full stop.

  • Jesus people don't even see how racist they are, pretty sad.

Hint - it was quite racist of you to ask that of somebody because they didn't match your stereotypes.

  • Not OP but I've noticed a lot of racists, extreme right nationalists, religious chauvinists, etc. Which sucks because the concept is quite cool and I'd love to be able to jump from one question to the next, but pretty quickly I get irritated and have to close it.

  • My wife and I also met on there. Like 99% match (which in hindsight is funny, our personality types and such are very different but quite complementary, however our core beliefs and interests are very similar). I had 2 kids from a previous girlfriend, she had 1 (which makes dating really hard in the SF bay area esp in your 20s, people here often dont have kids until their 40s). 11 years later we've been married for 5 and probably happier than ever.

  • I was recently at the airport in Amsterdam, going from San Francisco to Berlin. The EU passports line (like always) was non existent while the non EU line was nearly an hour long. I almost missed my flight (and my checked bag did) but it was totally worth it to see all the pissed off Brits complaining about having to wait.

  • Minimum wage in California is $16. Berkeley it is $18.67

  • 1985 here, I'd place it with Clinton neoliberalism personally (the left sold out, and the right totally lost their minds as Rush Limbaugh's proteges started showing up on cable news)

  • I live upon morsels you happen to drop

  • And if Trump loses ol Joe says we should move on to heal the country and gives Trump a reach-around just to show he means it, no malarkey.

  • Those bumper stickers are bullshit. Musk was a nut job who profited from apartheid and then bought his way into the public mind as some kind of low rent Tony Stark from the get. San Francisco 2012 people thought I was nuts for claiming he was a huge charlatan and now those same people rock those bumper stickers.

  • This regulation (and similar being proposed in California) would not be applied retroactively.

  • This is quite literally what a large stretch of the Ohlone Greenway looks like from Richmond through El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, down to Oakland looks like.

  • This ten forward? I see last post as 5 months ago...

  • I understand that but none of the replacements came close to matching the level of content and quality, risa used to always be popping in recent and I've not found any of the replacements (I subscribed to them all) to be anywhere near that. Not saying the action wasn't warranted (it probably was) but still sad.

  • I don't really know what drama caused it but when he stopped posting on c/risa@startrek.website it was a sad sad day.

  • All my own OSS stuff I always release MIT licensed because I want to be able to use the libraries in my closed source job.
