  • Just to add to the math, it really depends on what you own already and your capabilities to install mods yourself. Buying 3 pixelfx HDMI mods (shiny editions) will cost you around the same as the 4k (and that's if you can install yourself). Same thing as the analogue consoles if you want individual systems to play cartridges.

To add to the quality aspect, I have a 4k and I compared my RGB N64, HW1 N64Digital HDMI and RGB outputs, and Mister core as soon as I got it. The 4k looks better on my OLED than the HDMI output of the mod, with the only exception being if you prefer the smoothing filter in certain games.

  • My first thought would be an air quality sensor but I'm not sure how sensitive they would be to food smells. I've never used one but there are plenty of examples online.

A fallback would be a timer, if you know when your neighbor usually cooks, you could turn your fan on during those times with some buffer.

  • UV printing is a way to print designs on plastic and other materials (special ink is applied to the surface and cured with UV light). This shell was definitely injection modeled, not 3D printed. I'm pretty sure the shell itself is this one.

  • Haha thanks. I debated on which picture to use, I settled on this one mainly because I was so impressed with the UV print quality, though LEDs are great for those sweet, sweet internet points.

  • It is and its from laserbear. I actually think the pocket dock looks better on this little display vs a larger monitor. The downside is you have to use a scaler to get a proper image from the dock (in this case 480p HDMI -> component -> gbscontrol -> display).

  • Yeah if you go the diy route for the gbscontrol it can be a little intimidating without some prior experience. For this project if you get a Pico with headers already soldered, then no soldering is required which should hopefully be useful for people who just bought one off alliexpress.

  • I believe fxpak is open source for the snes. I'm not aware of any other open source carts that can load from an SD cards. There are many different ones for the Gameboy that can be flashed using a flasher like the gbxcart (eg. HDR mb30)

  • The greater concern to Republicans is that there are other issues people vote on when casting their ballot, not the just President. If their voters stay home, they could lose more than just the Presidency.

  • I've had no issues with zooz products, if I had to guess I'd say they are trying to cover themselves from an automation starting a fire. Those two outdoor plugs are also not rated for below freezing, so the Enbrighten seems like a better fit.

  • I can't speak to the Feit brand so you'll have to look how to control those, so the home assistant forums are your best bet for integrating those. Wemo brand does have an integration, so it should not be too hard to use those. As far as presence detection, these athom sensors have worked well for me, however I have not used them in bedroom where people are in bed sleeping.

Yes home assistant allows you to take actions based on the state of other smart devices. For example, when I turn on my foyer light, that also trigger my hallway lights to turn on.

  • That is a Ultra Slim PS2 mod. Its basically as PS2 Slim with the disc drive removed (this one had a faulty drive). I boot all my games off the network so I prefer the slim and the Mister handles any PS1 titles so no worries about backwards compatibility. I also added a esp32 with a transistor so that when the console gets powered via a smart switch, it automatically turns on.
