That scene bothered me so much! If there's a path to air from the plumbing vent, then those toilets would've been draining water from that room really quickly. If they were overwhelmed by the water, then the hoses wouldn't be useful for breathing
I'm really curious how you got that number? I guess eye sockets aren't counted, as topologically with how many of the tubes connect, it's probably something weird.
So you're saying it is possible then? That was my only hangup. I don't have a position on whether we have free will (leaning towards not) for the exact reason we can't prove it.
How would perceived irrationality be counter to a deterministic universe? It just maybe seems irrational without all of the information, but is still perfectly part of the causal chain.
I get essentially the same, although not being familiar with the references makes some parts unclear.
I'm assuming Michaelmas is a name, but maybe it's a celebration (like Christmas) and the word term here is implying the author's feelings about it.
Same with the Chancellor part. What does sitting in the hall mean? It's an Inn, so not in official capacity then? Is it a metaphor or common turn of phrase?
Is Holbern hill steep? Or is it a famously gentle hill? The use of "wonderful" here tripped me up at first too since it's so different from how we'd use it now.
What are chimney-pots? Are they just chimneys or something else?
Meh, they're ok. There's a spring inside that makes it have some "give" when writing so you're less likely to break the lead. Eraser is ok quality. It's a thicker lead too (0.7 iirc). They are meant to be disposable though which is dumb, although you can force it open and refill it if you're stubborn about it.
The movie, or the show?
