  • I am fucking dumb. This took me a while...

  • Look at the bottom with server count. Likely something screwed up there, and when those instances were suddenly returned, the user count was added back before being subtracted when they disappeared from the data.

  • Depends on the people. There aren't any strict rules. Some people won't, some will. Some might even end up in bed right after. As long as everyone involved is comfortable with it, it's fine.

If you aren't comfortable with drinking on a first date, then don't. If like me you never drink alcohol, then don't.
Also depends on the alcohol. Large difference between wine and vodka.

But I haven't ever dated either, so... Personally I can't imagine any date that involves any drinks and food. Coffee, I don't do that either. Tea? Down in one go. Water? Awkward, and also down in one go. Food? Can't focus on anything else, gotta finish first.

  • It does. I've been using it, I tested it, it works. They just get the info that I am "currently unavailable" and I get SMS with info on who tried to call me when I was "unavailable". Just like airplane mode, but I get to keep data and SMS.

2G will be used only for emergency calls.

4G/5G doesn't support traditional voice calls like 2G/3G did. Only VoLTE, VoWiFi and VoNR which are a total mess with lack of one universal standard. (And you can disable them, which is the point of my comment.)

But they can try, if that's what you meant.

  • Problem solved.

    You can't call me.

(If you can't disable 2G and 3G and they are still used by your carrier, you can switch to LTE only or NR/LTE or NR only in *#*#4636#*#* menu. This menu may be disabled on some devices.)

This also helps with reconnecting faster when travelling as it won't have to unnecessarily search for 2G/3G towers.

Alternatively, you could forward all calls somewhere else, so you can still make calls yourself right away.

  • For some perspective, 11 years ago was 2014

    No way.

Edit: This was not meant in the "No shit Sherlock" way.

  • There's different levels:

    1. Shutdown at UEFI splash
    2. Long press power button
    3. Unplug PC
    4. Turn off PSU
    5. Turn off extension cord
    6. Turn off room's breaker
    7. Turn off main breaker
    8. Cut off the power lines
    9. Shutdown the power plant
    10. Declare war on any community using electricity
    11. Declare war on thunder clouds
    12. Destroy everything with electrons (total annihilation of the world)

  • I hear Pixelfed is making the rounds.

I think you meant Piefed. Pixelfed exists too, but that is more Instagram-style. Piefed feels pretty similar to Lemmy, just written in Python.

I personally like how Mbin integrates with Mastodon. Or at least the idea. I can't figure out how to search up a specific Mastodon user.

  • The other Arch user body type

  • So is ADB, and Bluetooth tethering, and wired Ethernet, and OTG,...

This can be solved with a warning like "You are not connected to the internet, hotspot will only allow access within local network."

  • Imagine a standard zombie apocalypse movie. Someone comes up with a vaccine, but instead of the ending showing helicopters and planes transporting them, happy people leaving ships, people cheering in camps and getting mass-vaccinated, a new war just starts. Armed antivaxxers destroying labs, produced vaccines and vaccination centers, and the entire humanity just fucking dies.

    THE END

  • In November 1967 the Israeli authorities issued Military Order 158, which stated that Palestinians could not construct any new water installation without first obtaining a permit from the Israeli army. Since then, the extraction of water from any new source or the development of any new water infrastructure would require permits from Israel, which are near impossible to obtain. Palestinians living under Israel’s military occupation continue to suffer the devastating consequences of this order until today. They are unable to drill new water wells, install pumps or deepen existing wells, in addition to being denied access to the Jordan River and fresh water springs. Israel even controls the collection of rain water throughout most of the West Bank, and rainwater harvesting cisterns owned by Palestinian communities are often destroyed by the Israeli army.

Warning: If you set up 2FA on Lemmy, it's possible it doesn't work. Make sure to verify it works for you.
