  • Is there gay in invisible parts of the spectrum?

    Can I be cosmic gay?

  • That is a fair assessment, and in a world where life is expected to be stable and tolerable, it is stongly tempting to keep your head down.

China may be that kind of stable, though from what I hear, they disappear people for benign offenses, and people have to manage their social rating. Not easy to do when you're, say, gay, or neurodivergent, or Uyghur. I can't help but wonder if the acceptable norm is shrinking, and the list of undesirables is growing.

Here in the states, it already is growing. And unless you're doing sexual favors for a billionaire or are indispensable to a billionaire, you're on the purge list, just further down than homeless folk and Latins.

Granted you might rather just be summarily executed than tortured. I personally am terrified by the marks on the interior walls of the Auschwitz death camp genocide chambers where the victims were clawing as they died. In the current path of least resistance, I'll be making those marks one day, or rather will perish from malnutrition in CECOT.

If I have to go out suffering, I'd rather I made a difference. If I lie low, I might as well commit suicide, which I've actually considered except that would cause harm to others connected to me.

It'll also suck for them when ICE comes for me and my neighbors are silent.

  • Social Security Disability.

One of the things Musk is trying to kill because I am allegedly useless.

Musk is about to learn there are practical reasons to assure the wellbeing of non-workers, including NEETs.

We often sre useful, just in ways not recognized by pure transactionalists and capitalists. And those uses can and do turn renegade.

  • Remember our oligarch masters have invested over a trillion dollars into a multimedia empire to fuck their brains in the first place using what is nothing less than mind control or brainwashing techniques.

In the old days, we regulated services that took advantage of common human bias (such as gambling). But in this era, even gambling is AOK in all fifty states (so long as it's sports apps or lootboxes)

That 20-Minutes-Into-The-Future cyberpunk dystopia that scared Orwell and Stephenson and Gibson is here. (—1138)

The US is still supposed to regulate inciting speech, but not when it's backed by a closet full of blue-haired lawyers.

  • I go by susbribed top last 24 hours, which gives me a decent scroll experience.

  • Im ASD and diagnosed with major depression and on SSD.

That means I'm high up on the purge list anyway.

We're all on that list. Even those of you who keep their head down. That's the point of the Niemöller poem, especially since Trump's shadowy masters are not trying to become dictator for life rather to bleed the federal general fund for a while before skedaddling to Switzerland or Liechtenstein.

You can't lie low on this one as if it's a protracted storm. At least I can't.

  • Let go your shank painter, let go your cat stopper
\ Haul up your clewgarnets, let tacks and sheets fly!

  • I suspect this some kind of irony or satire like 100% of human diseases would disappear if everyone committed to a starvation / cannibalism diet

  • Off topic, stock pics of Trump all seem from around his last term so when I see a recent comment he looks old and deformed like an uncanny valley monster, like his face is a melted Nixon mask.

We should use recent photos for stock Trump pics the way we did with Biden.

  • He's doing a suck job of it. The things he's gutting are pennies towards his dark-souled oligarch masters. Cutting small government projects like the NEA, PBS or like FOSS grants is only used as an appeal to fiscal responsibility conservatives that aren't willing to cut into old-people benefits like Social Security and military sacred cows. Not because gutting tiny projects does anything useful, rather it gives the vibe that representatives are doing something.

This is an appeal to the imbicile MAGA though the tech bros might have specific FOSS projects that compete with their own commercial offerings. Not enough to cut all FOSS grants, though.

  • AHA! I KNEW IT! Trump, MAGA and the freedom caucus is all just a front for the robot apocalypse movement.

Trump crashes the global economy and then the robots come in saying We'll fix everything We'll use logic!

  • So far the Trump administration and the Federal government under him don't need AI to justify stupid, globe-wrecking policy.

AI told me to do [wrongful action] is no more a valid excuse than I was just following orders. At least not to an international tribunal or a (seriously peckish) public.

  • They're making a strong argument for opt-in-only regulations stacked on top of ToS simplicity regulations.

May have to wait until after the revolution, I suppose.

  • And then, the group that is not undesirable starts shrinking, trait by trait. We know this poem.

  • We live in a YAF dystopia that is way less cool than most of the storybook ones.

And while every kid's story is their chance to veer away from the usual fate of becoming a corporate cog (laborer or soldier) in a billionaire vanity project, most will just end up stuck like Winston without his nook, or will get imprisoned or will just go homeless.

  • We're pretty sure it's the Monsanto pesticide and anyone who suggests it is hit with a litigation threat. Curiously, as we're speed-breeding domesticated bees the wild bees are dying out faster, so as the bee population dwindles it also becomes more domesticated and less wild. I know that's a bad thing, but I am fuzzy on the why details.

I'm a brown thumb, and plants wilt as my shadow falls on them, but if you're a green-thumb, plant pollinators, which will help the bees.

Also plant milkweed for the monarchs.

  • Yeah, but the police don't hover over us in Spinners as in Bladerunner. They still have to chopper from helipad to airport and ride off in air traffic, so less in our faces.

Their superfluous greenhouse emissions fit the cyberpunk vibe though.

  • The second situation is a fantasy until after we have a communist revolution.

Only because it was taken from the public by Disney, since the courts ceased recognizing the public as stakeholders.

But the Constitutional function of copyright is to create a robust public domain. As that is no longer the function of copyright, we can abolish it. And the only thing that is keeping us from abolishing it is the same obstacles keeping us from abolishing autocracy.

So revolution that bridges the way to socialized art may be more necessary in the immediate future than it appears (whether or not it's easy).

  • It is possible I've never encountered a tankie. I was accused of bring one on a subreddit for mixing non-critical thoughs in with my criticism of USSR.

  • Musk remains true to his Disney villain character and I stand by my previous wish for his fate to be:

...eaten by hyenas. Preferably hyenas he had recently betrayed to save his own skin.

At the rate were going were going to get the bad ending which is:

...Chinese bombers over Washington blotting out the sun.
