  • I once wanted to move all the files in the folder was I in to another folder and I did something like mv /* ../. What is important here is that I did /* and not ./*. Fortunately it was only a raspberry pi so it went fast to flash the SD card.

    Also, how did you go about reinstalling VLC if you deleted all dependencies?

  • This is the information I had to specify when I connected from Linux and Android:

    Security: WPA2 Enterprise/802.1xEAP Encryption/EAP: PEAP EAP Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2 CA certificate:

    <domain>

    That is in addition to a username and password I had to create via the university's website. On Windows, username and password sufficient.

  • I think the difference is that with open source you won’t lose money if the users leave. If you have creating a software that is not selling because it is missing a feature, you are incentivised to implement it.

  • That is probably a not too uncommon use case. My patents-in-law got a old computer from me, their son installed Linux mint on it and I helped them with adobe/epub. They browse the web and that’s it.
