  • The people at the top don't want the people under them competing with them for bribes. They want to make sure all gifts come directly to them.

  • If the teacher is going to basically plagarize the assignment and I've already done it elsewhere to the best of my ability, how the hell am I supposed to do anything other than resubmit the work I'd done for that assignment the first time?

That doesn't make sense to me. Even after reading the below referenced wikipedia section on self plagiarism, it seems a contested topic and kinda ridiculous.

  • Aren't babies cartilaginous at birth? Guess it's still a skeleton as it is a structural frame, even if it's not made out of bones yet.

  • Watergate is just the name of a hotel/shop/office complex in DC. The Watergate scandal had nothing to do with water, it's just named after the place where it occurred. The -gate suffix for scandals is dumb.

  • One of these 2:

    • some leftover rice, reheated.
      or
    • a couple small potatoes, microwaved and then cut into cubes.

Mixed with one of these 3:

    • 1-2 packets cooked maggi masala ramen.
      or
    • a can of chili and microwave for another couple minutes.
      or
    • bagged madras lentils, similar to above.
  • This motherfucker wants someone "who understands the ‘importance of dialogue'" after he invaded Russia's neighboring country, straight up stole land & children and sanctioned his troops raping, pillaging and murdering civilians?!?

Putin is not a serious person on any level. His words and actions have no business being treated in a serious manner.
He should be hunted down and disposed of like a rabid dog.
He's not a human. Just trash.
    Fucking cancerous trash.

  • Probably. Not sure if this will do it. But there's inherent privacy concerns in having a bunch of relatively insecure silos interoperating as a semi-social network even if most of us do so with varying degrees of anonymity. For the moment, most of us are here to avoid corporate overreach so motivations are in a certain degree of alignment. But it's just a matter of time before something goes wrong or the winds change in an unforeseen way.

  • Lucky bastards.

  • Plate of olives and a liter of beer used to be my go-to after work wind down snack.

  • Someone's just going to steal whatever you make anyway.

  • Is there anyway to implement (without spinning up your own private instance) the ability for individual users to opt out of federation of their content to certain instances, or would that introduce too much overhead and complication?

  • How'd you get in my house?
    Would you please leave?
    Who the fuck was that?

  • Write a sitcom about it. Imagine a laugh track while occasionally deadpanning a non-existent close up cam for dramatic effect.

  • Pretty sure they just have a list from major donors that tell them which cases to pick and how to rule.

  • Have been too depressed for too many decades. Lost the ability to enjoy music. Miss it, but anytime I try it feels contrived and I hear people from my past deriding my selections for various reasons.

  • Ah, friend. At the point we're having this conversation will a bonfire fix anything? Isn't it too long overdue already? The people and parts that would pick up the pieces afterwards already too poisoned? What hope existed is decades past on multiple fronts. We're corpses that would dance to music there's no one left to play.
