  • Yeah, the reason you can't stop thinking about it is because it makes no sense but you insist it does so your brain can't stop processing it, trying to figure it out, but every answer you come up with is crap and you know it. It's called cognitive dissonance, you're really not supposed to lean into it.

  • yeah. no that's whistleblowers. you ever notice how every major whistleblower gets hit with a child porn charge? It's like a label that reads "the government doesn't think you should talk about this guy". Nothing more than character assassination by our government. Ridiculous to suggest that someone used to being that furtive about something so shameful would also just want the world to know the truth.

those two things don't fit together, and yet it keeps happening. weird

  • since it's literally their fault Israel even exists, one can understand how they might not feel they have the right to comment... I mean it's a hangup from like 80 years ago and everyone involved in the decision is dead but ok

  • If the supreme court suddenly starts acting weird, that's a declaration of intent. As in, they intend to help the man who put them there get his job back.

Because law and the mafia are two sides of the same coin, and it's the person holding the coin who puts the spin on it.

Impetuous people will hear that and take it as license to do anything; actual grownups will recognize that makes the law more precious, not less. The supreme court is now split down that line. "Yes, but I just gotta do this thing" is why there aren't supposed to be strings attached to Supreme Court justices; they're supposed to be found first, and invalidate the candidate.

All it took was an immoral president and now poof, the whole institution is functionally just gone, and here we are, chickens with our heads cut off trying to figure out what to do about it. cept it's hard to think once your head's been cut off. maybe building our legal system as a layer cake with no access to the top levels for normal humans was the sort of shitty thing we weren't supposed to do, flying in the face of all those principles it was "built on" and whatnot.

  • Riiight. Go ahead and apply that logic the next time you want to get in your house. Or brick your way into your car since it's easier. Hopefully nobody spots you and calls the cops! You're definitely not being a dickhead just by making that argument either, don't let anybody tell you that. Those words needed to be said, it was important! And anyway the rest of us are so stupid we probably think we actually need keys.
