  • “We live in a society where foreign alien terrorists have unlimited free legal representation,” Stephen Miller posted.

    From the US Constitution:

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

  • If you signal in turn lanes or while switching lanes when no one is around you'll build healthy habits of using your signal in all other appropriate times.

Signal every time you plan to deviate from your current lane of travel.

Also FFS, signal before you start to merge so that people know what the fuck you're doing. Too many times I've ridden with people that got upset when no one is "letting them in" and they haven't even bothered to tell people they want in.

  • If you habitually use it on simple or clear turns or empty roads you will habitually use it when there are people around. That's a good habit to have.

Lights on always and signal whenever you're deviating from your current lane.

  • They are all citizens. They have all the same rights. Trump won't draw any distinction between them. Trump has already been attacking the rights of everyone, including citizens.

The graphic implies a sequence or hierarchy (à la "First they came") with Trump either planning to destroy each pillar himself or have them toppled like dominoes. However, this does not accurately reflect the nature of the attacks that have already occurred. Trump did not step through a hierarchy, he attacked everyone that he perceived as a threat to his power--much more similarly to a bomb placed in the middle of the pillars toppling all at once.

  • Why are citizens on there 3 times when they are indistinguishable categories and why are they so far to the right when he's already publicly talked about sending citizens to the torture prison?

  • DEI during hiring is things like:

    • Making sure job postings are put up in spaces where minority populations have a similar chance to see them as majority populations. I.e. post at HBCU and Women's colleges' job boards, not just at the hiring manager's alma mater.
    • Making sure the application portal is accessible to those with disabilities

DEI during employment is things like:

    • continuing unconscious bias training
    • educating about the existence of diverse backgrounds and how that can benefit your team
    • encouraging communication among your team members about how they approach problems, overcome obstacles, and achieve results

DEI is not (though the right commonly likes to use it this way):

    • A slur for non-white male presenting people
    • A diversity hire
    • A socially acceptable term in lieu of the n-word
  • To the small handful of socially liberal and fiscally conservative folks that found this thread let me ask a few questions:

    • Does it make more fiscal sense to build a chemical treatment plant next to a neighborhood of people that can afford lawyers or a neighborhood of those that can't?
    • What is the social makeup of each of those neighborhoods?
    • How did that social makeup come to be?
  • The hatred of property tax really pisses me off.

I have a mortgage on the house in which I reside. I have to pay property tax on the house in which I reside. My annual property taxes are less than half the minimum monthly payment for my mortgage. If I can afford my monthly payment I can afford my taxes. If I can't afford my monthly payment the taxes aren't the problem.

And what do I actually get for that less than half a monthly mortgage payment in annual taxes?

    • 2 large parks with miles of walking paths, a playground, a basketball and a soccer court, all maintained and within 2 blocks
    • maintained roads to my house that are cleaned regularly
    • decent schools nearby

Yes, I recognize I got lucky and am privileged enough to have, not just stable housing, but that which I "own," but that just makes my distaste of the hatred of property taxes all the greater.
