  • It's worth noting that one of the guys involved in the effort, James Comer, did exactly the same thing he is trying to impeach Biden over (loaning $200,000 to a family member and having it be repaid). Only difference is when Biden did it he was a private citizen. When Comer did it he was in government, oh and he used shell companies.

Meanwhile, another member, Jim Jordan, head of the judiciary committee (and who has no professional judicial or legal experience at all, never having passed the bar or practiced) defied a subpoena.

The entire thing is a farce to try and undermine the very legitimate impeachments of Trump.

  • Now if only we could implement some sort of way to maybe check if someone has some disqualifying action in their past so we can make sure that right is adequately protected without risk of further harm. Maybe we could have like a check in the person's background and make sure they know how to use it properly so we know they aren't falling into the wrong hands.

  • Maybe if they reintroduced hangouts and let me:

    • make phone calls
    • make phone phone calls with Google voice
    • make voice chats
    • send sms messages
    • send sms messages with Google voice
    • send chat messages
    • make video calls
    • permit all those options (except native sms) from Gmail, the desktop app, and the dedicated webpage
    • collate my conversation with people among all the communications methods listed

I'd be tempted to use them again. It amazes me that they made an app that encompassed basically every modern form of individual communication laid out in a clear understandable manner and they just thought it would be better if every feature they offered were it's own app. Now I have to remember which medium I used to talk with somebody and use an app with fewer features.

    I miss hangouts.

  • Alien landing site is discovered by a liberal university student who's barely passing. This adds to their already crippling stress as they try to navigate the world with an alien companion and have to figure out a way to get them off world before the alien becomes a political or scientific captive.

Comedy as we watch everything go wrong to this person pushed way out of their league and past their breaking point.

  • While not a "Windows program," Ninite allows you to queue up and download a lot of the most common software installs you'd make after a fresh install.

In terms of actual windows programs, I quite like "Everything." It's basically a database of all the files on your computer that allows for near instant searching.

"Space Sniffer" is an excellent utility for finding what takes up a lot of room on your drive.

"Unidentified flying raw" is a free program that allows the manipulation and conversion of raw picture files. I use it before editing in Gimp, but if you have Photoshop, it's not necessary.

"Dark Table" is an acceptable free light room alternative if you have the patience. It's pretty slow though.

  • If a movie was shot in 3d and the CGI was designed in 3d and the movie was produced for 3d I've generally enjoyed them (Avatar, Gemini Man, Alita Battle Angel). If however the 3d is produced by an off shore sweat shot rotoscoping a 2d shot then layering everything over a parallax background that's an immediate pass.

I'd love if there was a 3d movie distribution app/platform for VR headsets though. I had to buy the 3d Blu-ray release of a movie, a PC Blu-ray drive, Blu-ray ripping software, then render that to a stereoscopic player and set a VR app to copy my desktop in stereoscopic mode just to watch it. That cost like $100 for a movie, and it seems more people have a quest or some shit then ever had a 3d TV.

  • Fully anonymous account, purchased with crypto, has a warrant canary, open source clients, regular server audits to verify no logs, relatively cheap, fast, works on all my devices, VPN bypass for things like steam, killswitch, and a choice of VPN protocols.

It also has multihop, but that's just a gimmick.

  • The Microsoft Surface headphones have a spinning dial on one ear that allows you to set the specific amount of ANC you'd like.

They have an app, but it's only used for firmware updates and changing the action button. You don't need the app at all ever if you don't care about those.

The ANC was not as good as my Sony's, but I can't change the ANC on the Sony's without an app.
