  • I was going to begrudgingly vote for Biden. I will now optimistically vote for Harris. I will still get to engage in democracy in November and I did vote "Uncommitted" in the primaries.

While I would love actually competent primaries (and maybe ones that don't just end before getting to my state) and would love an actually Democratic voting system I'm not sure this election was any less Democratic than previous ones.

That could just be me clouding my judgement because I think they made the right choice here, but the alternative was chaos and an inevitable loss.

  • I'm honestly kind of surprised there aren't "torrent torrents." Just distributing a collection of torrents that might be of interest within a given category, say "top 100 movies of 2024." Once you have the list of torrents locally you are less reliant upon some website hosting them for you.

  • There was the one where the guy said "feminism is the worst thing that has ever happened to women."

The one where the guy said "[Jesus] rolled away the stone and crawled out of his tomb fully healed even though his legs were broken" was pretty interesting giving the blatant blasphemy of it all. He had to apologize next week.

  • Tell me, where do you poop? Are you willing to let any unhoused people poop there? Where do you cook? Are you willing to let any unhoused people cook there?

Housed people poop, do drugs, cook, and steal. Unhoused people poop, do drugs, cook, and steal. They just do it from a public space.

Life is hard, especially when you're on the streets. I don't fault anyone for doing what they need to survive or recreating in a way to escape their struggles.

  • I have not. I'm mostly doing webdev on it and it works fine for that. I honestly don't even need the dedicated GPU. If there's something you'd like me to run lmk and I'll see if I can find time for it. I'm running Debian stable on it and it's the i7-12700H with an RTX A1000 and 32GB 4800MHz RAM version.

  • I got a Gen 5 - 21DDS70700 from Newegg shortly before the Gen 7 was released. I originally bought a refurbished higher end model from their outlet store but they sent the wrong model so I returned it. It is built and performs well and has a great screen and keyboard.

  • The Bible doesn't say that you shouldn't edit or correct the Bible because the authors of the Bible didn't have the rest of the Bible.

Moses gives some explicit commands to the Israelites to not modify the commands he gives in Deuteronomy, but that doesn't really apply to the other books.

Likewise, some guy named "John" warns against anyone adding or removing from the account of his acid trip in Revelations, but that doesn't really apply to other books.

The "Bible" was constructed over a long process and while what many think of as the "Bible" was finalized by 400AD there are still disagreements today (See Judaism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Pentecostalism, Mormonism, and many other smaller sects).

The original authors wrote disparate works for distinct purposes at distinct points in time. They were not writing with the goal of manufacturing a multi-thousand year story bound as a single volume.

How do we know the full story?

We don't. We use archeology, biology, anthropology, and other scientific disciplines to determine a likely path of the story of humanity as a whole. Some disciplines use the books of the Bible and other contemporary accounts to guide areas of future study, but if you want a single source for the history of the earth, humanity, or even the Israelites the Bible isn't going to offer an honest perspective.
