  • I've never had problems using terms like "look man," "oh boy," or "dude" In "normal" conversion with anyone until recently. I was talking to a trans-woman I know and definitely stopped myself from dropping "hey man" in our conversation because I thought she would not appreciate it. That's caused some self reflection and while I'll probably continue to use genderbent language when talking with my wife I'll probably seek to minimize it elsewhere. I don't really know how in tune a given woman I'm talking to is with their muliebrity and it seems not my place as a cis man to make that determination for them.

I would say for a lot of people it probably doesn't matter, but for those that it does it does a lot and it's no skin off my back to try to be courteous in my speech with whomever.

  • Probably with running a bunch of independents at the local level. You can't do what the Greens tried and drag out an asset for the top position every four years with nothing else to show. Start small and get people used to the idea that it's okay for someone outside of the main parties to hold office. Build results then form a party from the independents once you've had some successful incumbents.

  • In Denver most of the big box stores have remote police surveillance boxes erected in the parking lot that alternate between playing classical music and announcing that the parking lot is being recorded. In downtown some establishments (especially if they're near warm air vents) will play the sounds of crying babies or screaming women.

These are attempts to keep people experiencing homelessness away from there.

  • No. They are a common victim of the trolley. I simply didn't render the person deciding their vote as, given the topic of discussion at hand, felt it was implied. Clearly I should have foreseen that the complicated moral of "Palestine was fucked either way, but there are other people that can be saved" was too advanced for some.

  • And the "principled", "unwaivering", and allergic to nuance helped usher in a fascist who is the self proclaimed "protector" of Israel.

Anyone who thought that the guy who recognized Israel's contested capital, who "fought for Israel like no president ever before," who claimed "Anybody who’s Jewish and loves being Jewish and loves Israel is a fool if they vote for a Democrat,” who believes that the US election day was "the most important day in the history of Israel," who wants to deport students exercising their right to protest the genocide, and who's only criticism of the genocide was that it was too public and slow would be better for Gaza is a deluded fool.

  • I've often thought about making an interactive timeline of the universe that would allow you to see what events happened at a specific time superimposed on a 3D model of the universe, galaxy, solar system, planet, etc. That way you could get a decent idea about scale Ann's concurrency.

I haven't built it yet cause that's hard.

  • Coca leaves. They're de-coked prior to use, but they're still a controlled substance. Coke has an exception built into the law that effectively makes them the only country company in the US that can access them (possibly outside of medical, I'm not really sure and don't care to check). There's not a lot in the drink anymore as it is, just enough to keep the name.

  • The world's richest man is supporting the guy that's gonna appoint him to some "efficiency" position that will let him squash any investigations into his businesses and will cut the amount of taxes he owes.
