well I'd say since non-federated Lemmy is just a forum with a bunch of stuff for federation that you won't use, there's no point. if you want a forum, then Lemmy is the wrong answer. Lemmy is (or at least is designed to be) an open-source, federated copy of reddit, keeping the good parts while removing the corpo stuff and adding the benefits that open-source and federation bring. with only one instance, it's little more than a mediocre forum.
they do produce a lot of CO2, but other things produce so much more (and can be fixed without the cost being passed entirely onto regular people who can't afford the car they already have) that cars are a non-issue. yes the number is big, but other numbers like factories are bigger by so much that the cars' number is actually really small in comparison. it isn't your fault, it is the fault of things like factories. you are being manipulated by rich people who don't want to spend an extra 13 cents per item to save the planet, so they convince you to focus on your car instead of their factories.
it's the same functionality but cheaper and easier to use, it's such a good idea the navy has been trying to switch everything they can to off the shelf stuff.
hilariously the only things that made it fail were 1) the material they chose 2) producing that material the cheap way and 3) not testing if it was broken after test dives.
it's not that people think cars aren't contributing, it's that things like factories are so much of a bigger deal that the cars won't make a difference.
I hate that movie too, but because I read the book and it was great. they completely ruined all the story and worldbuilding to make it a shitty feel-good movie for tweens.
I typically wear my jeans for about a week at a time (barring spills, mud, etc.) and wash them and all my other clothes on whatever the washer's regular setting is. I do this with hoodies as well.
not as an alternative to Whatsapp, I mean not bothering with an alternative to texting. there is no need for something like Whatsapp because everything it does is already part of just texting normally. Whatsapp is a texting alternative, and as such is pointless.
