  • I generally don’t mention it if I can help it, or I just say I don’t eat animal products. But people still have a hard time figuring out basic things like honey is an animal product.

Look, I just don’t want to disturb the animals if I can help it, alright? It’s just super unnecessary for my survival.

  • I hate that this is so black and white that you’re being downvoted. I’m the exact same way, but I’m by no means a bootlicker. I very much enjoy my job and love the work that I do, but I also don’t think most jobs are meaningful.

Two things can be true at the same time.

  • How can I make this my prompt on zsh?

  • You don’t use the C:/> </ terminal prefix and suffix prompt on your smartphone?

  • Chips and hummus, sometimes B*tchin’ Sauce

  • As a vegan it gets old when people assume I still eat dairy, eggs, or fish(???).

  • Save the videos, put them on a NAS and use a fancy frontend like Infuse to view your collection.

  • I’ve seen English subtitles of Spanish media making this mistake too. Ventilador is fan in Spanish but they always translate it to ventilator in English (where it should be fan). It’s always a good laugh. Also the mil/millón mixup is funny too.

  • “21 Ways Your iPhone is Spying on You” and it’s always dumb stuff like shady apps asking for permissions mouth breathers are stupid enough to allow. Then their website has 14 trillion tracking scripts loaded up; hypocrites.

  • Yeah, this is pretty stupid. “Oh no! The cops use CarPlay??” and “omg they developed an iOS app, the horror!”

  • Act II needs to have an overdone political scene where congress doesn’t want to pass the budget and almost shuts down the Fed meanwhile some hackers from

    <focus group hated country>

try to take advantage of the situation or whatever

  • Moving to a high COL area without an education (it’s fine, I make a ton of money now, I’m a self-taught programmer) will get you tons of crazy stories. I guess people here get their identity stolen a lot? It’s happened so many times that I’m scared to tell people I meet that I know anything about computers.

I moved to Los Angeles. The people here move slow and are dumber than a box of rocks. Not to be a hater, maybe I’m just bitter.

  • I moved like 10 years ago, everyone was cool at first, then everyone thought I hacked them because I know about networking then I worked from home for ~5ish years and lost my patience for 99% of people. It’s all good though!

  • Are you talking about the old-school issue where it wipes out your boot loader or the more recent issue where Windows hoses Linux for whatever “security” reason?

  • Ha, bar! I moved across the country in such a fashion that I connect with no one and sit in my apartment alone drinking on Friday nights.

    Sounds fun though!!

  • Yeah everyone says this then I look around at REST APIs (as a consumer and developer) and 99% are trash.

I’m loving GraphQL mainly for “take only what you need” and type definitions. Every other standard I can find has some crummy gem, serializers that need to be hacked because they never work out of the box, etc.

As soon as my experience changes maybe I’ll change my mind, but I’ve had to develop some REST APIs using Ruby and Rails and wasn’t happy. Meanwhile my side projects using GraphQL are just incredible, and I don’t want to kill myself after developing it.

  • I was responding to:

prevent campaigns or other groups from "buying votes" by giving people in line food/water in exchange for a promise to vote

I’m saying that it’s dumb that this is illegal when they have no guarantee the person being offered food/water will vote for the candidate they want.

  • Look at the millionaire that uses documented projects.

Edit: Oops, didn’t see the community. I was thinking of programming libraries.
