  • Depends how they are delivered. Social media posts are bad because they look like posts (with a tiny “promoted” badge somewhere) so those get me for a split second.

But I’m an avoid ad at all costs kinda person.

  • “Meteorologists aren’t in agreement on how to measure the Probability of Precipitation, aka that little percentage of rain on your weather app. Some use a formula for it — PoP = C x A, where C stands for confidence and A stands for area. So if there’s a 50% chance of rain in 80% of a given area, your probability of rain becomes 40%.

More commonly, meteorologists measure PoP as the chance of rain at any given point in the area they cover during a certain period of time. This is the definition closest to the official definition from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).”

It’s likely Apple does something unique in how they calculate their percentages. It could legit be a fault in how they source their weather data but knowing more about the actual equation might be helpful in seeing if everyone is actually measuring the same thing, the same way.

  • Then queue the determined crow or seagull and, that’s how you get a giant ass mess.

  • Drowning in legal debt already might seriously discourage an appeal lol

  • The streets. You can’t trust newspapers, tv, social media. But the streets, the streets you can always trust.

  • Twitter struggled with the same dilemma. I think at one point they had about a 1% retention rate.

Honestly I don’t even know why Meta made Threads. Seems more like another bad call from Zuck than a real service 🤷‍♂️

  • It never amazes me how little billion dollar companies actually do with their money.

  • Same with the shoes here. I take them off at my doorstep and carry them inside to the shoe rack. My floors stay spotless now as it’s surprising how much dirt they track inside.

I know some Asian cultures don’t even bring them in, leaving all the household’s shoes on the porch. I wish we did that in NA. Seems like a smart idea.

  • Cutting back your engagement from 30h a week to 30m is a huge shot against Reddit tho.

I kept my account alive but now only follow a handful of subs and am finding alternatives weekly. Discord. Lemmy.

This all results in a huge loss for Reddit because no one’s there for the ads or promoted posts. And that’s all they’ll have left after a while. And that’s not enough to attract a real base. Reddit won’t die overnight but look at what one fatal move did to Tumblr (when they banned porn). It tanked the site so hard that it’s losing money daily now. A stark contrast from when it sold for billions.

Corporations are far too flippant in thinking they are indestructible. And how they handled the API changes tells you that, like Tumblr, they made a serious mistake.

  • Totally feel this.

I always kept a pair in my trunk alongside some twist ties, duct tape and a ratchet set.

The jams it got me out of or the stuff I was able to haul. Amazing.

  • Honestly with Voyager, it’s hard to tell this ain’t Reddit lol.

  • For those on the fence, it’s quite stable. Miles better than iOS 16 around this time.

  • No one in money cares about long term anything. That’s why. They want the money now. Tomorrow is a problem for tomorrow.

  • It’s amazing in 17! Noticed first time typing. Especially on the iPad I make substantially less mistakes. It’s a smack in the face change.

  • This is the moment the account is made. Even if the other person doesn’t respond or has even created an account. That’s how they are driving up their numbers.

So long as you have an account you could potentially have a Threads account without your knowledge.

Meta is 100% artificially working the accounts.

  • Yeah tbh I don’t think any sane person does. So what people who first taught them to read deserve a cut?

Some philosophers believe you cannot imagine something that does not currently exist. All your thoughts and “creativity” are a slave to it.

But in true economy, there’s going to be litigation and money will be made because money always has to be made. This seems akin to the patent trolls some years back. And the RIAA well before that.
