  • That's going to rely on the US people. If they make a big enough fuss, Apple will have to bring it to NA. But in all likelihood it will be gated by your regional payment provider.

  • I think emulators are likely at the top. I can see Ryujinx absolutely being a top download. Big enough that Nintendo would absolutely arm up their legal team. Imagine every iPhone and iPad becoming a Switch!

Then region-locked apps. There are tons of games and apps in general that change from region to region. Chinese games are never like their NA counterparts. This would effectively unlock every region to the user.

Lastly, just random shit. It would be cool to install 3rd party apps. FOSS apps. Just anything that doesn't need to go through all the red tape of the App Store.

  • You can't hide behind a VPN and access the entirety of the net. There will always be some site that will block you. It's just par for the course. Unwinnable battle.

  • I have worked with enough people to know that resumes are literally "based on a true story".

  • They have been trying to make this a thing for a while now. Glad they are finally near the finish line!

And if anyone had doubts about their no-log policies. These guys are just great!

  • But why. There are so many good, legit places. Why do you feel you owe them your allegiance. Even despite knowing it's a scam. This is the weirdest behaviour to me, sorry.

  • Only losers claim victory in such ways

  • They just want ad clicks. It's a really basic scam. Duplicate the website. Flood it with javascript mouse clicks and you can get an ad impression for every 3/4 clicks. Multiply that by thousands you can make decent coin.

That's all they are really after.

  • Just another douche trying to capitalize on misspellings or close enough URLs to shill their ads, or javascript mouse clicks, etc. There are tons of imposter sites for the bigger public trackers.

  • I used to use thepiratebay.org, but recently it seems the quality of the site has degraded.

    Recently??? 😏

  • Wikipedia is pretty aggressive with these bots

  • You'd think after that page of "texture healing", alignment, etc. etc., Microsoft would actually make a fully, complete font first and foremost...

  • Yeah texture healing is poorly thought out and will break way more things than it "fixes". If your font needs that, go in and fix the damn font. A solution to a problem no one asked for, thanks Microsoft!

  • I don’t know if I’d be all that upset serving General Krul and the intergalactic federation

  • I know. Both have the same fundamental premise: to leak data that shouldn’t be leaked.

“WebUSB provides a way for these non-standardized USB device services to be exposed to the web. This means that hardware manufacturers will be able to provide a way for their device to be accessed from the web, without having to provide their own API.”

That’s from Mozilla. And that’s a hard pass. Why anyone wants this is beyond me. Just so long as there’s a flag to turn it off.

  • That’s why no one outside Google wants it. Apple said no. Firefox said no. There’s a reason. WebRTC is shit. It leaks too much just for a small convenience.

And yeah, browsers don’t need my USB ports thanks.

This move was what hurt VIA as they moved to the API exclusively. So the only native apps are just electron wrappers 🤷‍♂️

Edit: Looks like Mozilla said yes after all heavy sigh: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/WebUSB_API

  • I went down a rabbit hole a while back regarding kids and social media and mom’s are putting vids up with their kids at the pool in swimsuits and the people watching are like 30+. Mostly males. And that’s a trend. Lots of minors have a ton of adult followers.

Moreover, companies like Meta and Google simply monetize it. Wild how literally raising kids has become predatory.

    Godspeed EU 🙏
