I don’t get why so many people on Lemmy are straight-up communists. I’m left-leaning myself, but actual communism has always ended in a totalitarian dictatorship. Literally 1984
Technically, Linux is just the kernel. What makes a distro different is the software they choose to install and package, and what version: some come with the latest version of kde plasma and busybox, others use versions of GNOME and the GNU core system utilities that are a few years old, etc.
For the others, maybe. But YouTube? It's strength is in the sheer amount of content. It's going to take a lot of time and resources to create and host that content on the fediverse.
