  • Certainly newspapers, social media and the internet have all helped to "shrink" the world so that anything horrible that happens, we know about it instantly. This can make it seem like the world is becoming a more horrible place to live every day.

But there are good stories out there too, we just don't hear about them - after all, they don't make money for the newscasters or the internet icons.....if you can have a huge following just by showing cruelty to others, that's what people will do.

  • They never really worked out, everyone wants to do their own thing and that inevitably means someone gets upset or offended. If we were all given our own planet, we could probably get away with doing whatever we want to do, but in a world full of other people there's just no such thing as absolute freedom to do anything you want.

  • Awwwww

  • Oh my gosh, wrong ex!!!! There's gotta be something about this guy, how many ex's does he have? I mean if he was such a great catch why do they keep breaking up with him anyway?

  • Yeah, I don't mean to be a snob, but black bears and most dinosaurs are pretty terrible at playing the piano, I've noticed. I think they just don't get many opportunities to practice enough. Plus dinosaur arms are little tiny twiggy things about 2 inches long.

  • Why I was just sayin' to the wife the other day, "Honeybuns, who can we get to come over and duct tape our controllers together real cheap!?" Which is weird because I'm not even married.

  • Yeah i don't know if they even make "Squirt" anymore but it was a citrusy soda that came in regular and diet flavors. Mind you I didn't buy the diet, someone else did and left a half a can in my fridge.

But if you get a chance to try it with orange juice, it's really good.

  • I've felt this way for years now. Especially now that you can't watch a Youtube video without first watching some ad for Jardiance or something. And then being interrupted every 60 seconds to watch more ads.

To be honest, I've never felt compelled to buy anything or switch to any other brand just because of an ad. I'm not about to go out and buy a Ford Bronco because I just saw an ad where a guy is tooling over the sanddunes and rocky cliffs in one.

I wish there was an option for clepping out of ads once you've already viewed them once. But there would just another million more behind it.

  • I think it's true that some of it is failure of management for work oversight, but the "just skate and get by" mentality is actually unfair to the employer. I mean one person said to me, "Why can't I go shop and go to my appointments, it's not my fault those businesses are only open during the day."

That's true, but when you commit to work for an employer, you know what your work hours are expected to be. I had to do it too, working the daily grind in an office for decades, and if I needed to go to a doctor's or dentist's appoint, I'd let my employer know and ask for the time off.

Yeah it sucks and it's not total freedom or a license to skate through life, but that's just the way it is when you have a job.

  • Yeah well that sounds great, but people tend to be pretty horrible and selfish assholes rather than "just being cool." I'm not sure the President is much more than just a figurehead most of the time, but I've seen people try to start "be cool" communities that always ended up failing.

For one thing, some people wanted to do things that disrupted the sleep of others, for another thing, some people wanted to go around naked while others didn't want to see them running around naked, and some people wanted to have pot parties, whiles others found it disgusting. Eventually it all ends up withg people at each other's throats.

I think it'd be a lot easier to just be cool if people could really just be cool and not hyper-upset and offended by everything all the time.

  • Well it's hard to sympathize when you've only ever worked in a company culture. (AND by the way, always 8 to 5.....do people really work 9 to 5 and why have I never had such a job??). I never had the option to work from home, and in a way I'm glad because I know it would have been 92 percent playing on the computer and maybe 3 percent work and 5 percent going to the bathroom to pee.

So i see where employers are coming from in wanting to get back to the office environment again. It is almost impossible to track what workers are really doing from home, especially if they are actually taking naps and then doing asshole things in the evening that ruin your work life the next day!
