  • Part of conservatism is the idea that "the more complex a solution is, the wronger it is."

Another part is "We should be able to control women's use of their hoo-hoos for pleasure by restricting them to being baby chambers."

Here we have a venn diagram where the circles are the same.

  • First one, we were sexually incompatible (both tops) which only got worse over time. We opened the relationship which doomed it.

Second one, in progress: we're both addicts, I got sober, he's still struggling, but I think he won't get clean until I am actually good and gone. Enablement is sometimes not something you can avoid doing once the systems are built... resentments the same.

  • They will just disable the mute buttons. It happens around here all the time, marking them accelerates it.

I now avoid any gas station with immutable ads. But if I am in a pinch. The longest sharpest key on your key ring can slide right in and puncture the speaker, thus solving the issue more permanently.

  • No there were crosswalks, but the kids decided to "jaywalk" or cross outside a crossing, hence the reason the driver's not being charged. Drivers should be aware yes but it's not expected that children will dart out onto the road, frogger-style trying to cross outside crosswalks, much the reason I am afraid of my dumb dog doing it.

  • I once read that humans pick by nature because the sinuses are a filter, and then the tonsils can sample that filter for germs to strengthen itself without getting fully sick.

I am not a nosepicking scientist tho so idk, take it with a grain of booger

  • Actually several of them made statements along the lines of “it’s cheaper to go along with it vs the business we’d lose from the media fallout”

So they actually went the wrong way on purpose not understanding public sentiment would change

  • We have a friend who's a pediatric emergency physician in a world-class US city. The day Trump was elected, she scrubbed her social media of anything critical, and started quietly scouting properties she can move her family to in friendlier countries. Right now her income is supporting like 3 US households, if she pulls out, it's like 3 families, 3 mortgages, all of that money goes with her.

  • Grocery shopping yesterday we really noticed it for the first time. Things have been higher and higher for a while but now there an extra 10-30% on some goods, overnight. Gonna be a brutal year. I’ve never seen stagflation in the flesh. No one my age has.
