Conservatives didn't do the mass immigration that caused our healthcare to crater. Low skilled labor to prop up GDP, in a fashion the UN defined as modern slavery, is hardly what I'd call progressive as well. During an existing housing shortage none the less.
I stand by what I said, Liberals aren't progressives. Sure vote NDP or anyone else, but don't gas light and tell me the Liberals are helping the poor after the last 8 years, after their rents doubled. Under Harper wages didn't rise faster than rents, so the ghoul you hate did a better job; meanwhile the only reason the Liberals even gave an ounce of help to the poor was the NDP forcing them, so we get the full brunt of their cabinet without the lube because people suddenly have amnesia.
implied First Nations have falsely claimed that unmarked graves have been found at former residential schools.
This did happen. It was a fake story, and it made up much of the questions of our last debate, which took a lot of time away from questions of the rising cost of living.
Are you okay with putting these programs in with zero funding?
We pay interest on all this new debt, every new program is on installments, also called future austerity. If they were progressive they would have taxed the rich to pay for it, but they're trying to straddle the fence while letting the future take the hit.
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems the sad tragedy is nobody votes for progressives, they vote for people who make them feel good about helping while having no sacrifice.
Remember when they helped forced union workers back to work, this is your worker party. Sure Cons would do the same, but let's not kid ourselves about these peoples virtues.
They still want mass immigration as well, to depress salaries, under the guise of a worker shortage as unemployment rises.
Under Harper salaries outpaced rents, under Trudeau they did not. Interest rates have a large effect, but immigration is the difference that makes Canadians poor.
Where I live you can't cut down a tree, and if it gets destroyed you need to pay thousands for a botanist to come out. I would never take the risk of planting a tree.
I do agree that only quick fix to bring down prices is stopping immigration. With 15% youth unemployment in Toronto its still called racist for saying so however. But I see your point that a GST rebate for investors is very silly.
Of course continuing near the current immigration level still requires rezoning all over Canada. I still think that's the best plan, as it is the only thing to deal with the land shortage. BC had done it, as has much of Alberta, because they are actual progressives, but we need to force the likes of Ford and Chow.
Youth unemployment in Toronto is 14%, and we havent even hit recession yet. Im assuming you mean there is a shortage of cheap wage slaves that will live 20 to a basement in a condemnable fire hazard.
But all left leaning parties are in on it now, if there was ever an indication that Canadians politics has been corrupted.
Unless his goal is to preempt a constitutional crisis with Alberta and their idiot premier. In order to get a pipeline built to displace Russian energy. That's one theory I've heard that makes a bit of sense, and listening to her talk about Carney it seems plausible, separatism from the middle of the country was unthinkable before.
Have the vulnerable been helped at all by the Liberals. Looking at some stats their rent essentially doubled, which I think most peoples rents are definitely their single biggest cost.
So I'm curious how you tangle with that issue, given the Liberals are buying mortgage bonds, extending amortizations, and doing all they can to push up home values for investors. Is it just the logic that Pierre is lying and would do the same?
I'll take anyone except the Liberal cabinet. Imagine Sean Fraser getting his job back when even Carney himself renounced his entire tenure saying it dramatically hurt the poor and increased wealth inequality. Or Freeland as a finance minister who landed 20b over her own fiscal guardrail. These people were rightfully disliked.
Do you think things have been going well the last 10 years, and that people are generally better off?
I'm just curious what people expect with Carney, given his entire cabinet is the same do people expect him to govern entirely by himself in a dictatorial fashion?
