  • Your view of Matrix seems a bit weird. AFAIK I can do all the voice/streaming/community in Matrix as well as it's done in Discord.

Also, no, my server isn't slow. matrix.org might be, I don't know.

  • Isn't that a client side issue though? Element is just one Matrix client. I haven't used it myself but heard from others that Fluffychat (another Matrix client) is more like Discord.

  • FWIW it's very common now to see at least open source projects run their own Matrix channels instead of Discord/IRC/xxx.

(I see in other comments that there's some confusion regarding Element and Matrix. Element is a client, Matrix is the protocol. Yes, Element-the-company does their best to add to this confusion)

  • I went from Emby to Jellyfin as they started their enshittification journey. I don't really notice it being less polished.

  • Absolutely. The Model 3 was fun to drive in a carting way. The ID.7 is comfortable to drive long distances in.

  • Yeah the ID.7 is the first on VWs "new platform". IIRC they're going to refresh the other models now too.

Going from Tesla to VW was very refreshing. To start with it's now possible to trust the expected range given. The Tesla lied its heart out.

  • The VW ID.7 is about the same cost as a Tesla Model 3 and its size and features are more like the Model S. I was early so I have the sedan, a friend has the tourer though and loves it.

No such warning, at least not here in Sweden/Europe.

I looked at the Kia EV9 but it was a lot more expensive, also, we didn't get the swivel seats here. They had to be bolted stuck in forward position :(

  • Yeah no I'm not switching out reliance on US cloud services with ... Chinese.

Replaced my Tesla with a Volkswagen ID.7. Recommended.

  • Half of all Canadians support joining the EU, and while I haven't seen a poll for us Europeans I'm sure we'd love to see it.

  • Amazing place, just make sure to ALWAYS follow the ordering instructions. Being a customer there is a privilege, not a right ;)

  • Was Perez bad or is the Red Bull simply undriveable if you're not Verstappen?

Did Ferrari go after Hamilton simply for the ad revenue and not for possible future race results?

Is there a point to Aston Martin if they keep going backwards each season?

    :P

  • Swede here. Taking care of your family means being an active parent and a sharing partner.

I took 18 months paternity leave with our firstborn so my partner could finish their degree.

  • 25+ years here too, Sweden. Agree that I've heard frontend and mobile apps isn't what it was a few years ago but backend, embedded and cybersec is constantly hiring.

  • Her life. Op has clarified everybody involved knows what it is and isn't.

  • Matrix.

  • The whole MAGA movement can be described as people who did not get the point in Starship Troopers.

  • Hosted refugees.

When Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine started in late feb 2022 we (Swedes) watched in horror as the people walked for days to get to southern Poland where the towns quickly tried to set them up with tents and basic services, looking for ways they could then move on within the EU.

My wife took the decision that she wanted to help, in any way possible, and jumped in the car. She drove for 14 hours, slept in the car, picked up two families (mother/daughters) and brought them back here to Sweden. One of them we then housed in our guest house for a year before they decided that it was safe "enough" for them to move back to their home town.

We had the opportunity and possibility. Not everyone has, the important part is to act in any way you can.

  • Obviously you have bad news sources if you after three years believe Ukraine isn't trustworthy regarding what happens on the battlefield.

    That's a you-issue.
