  • I'm not a medical researcher, but I can tell you that the random LSD flashback, as you're describing, is not evidence-based. As with many drugs, LSD releases glutamate and can trigger psychosis in people predisposed to psychosis. This can lead people to believe that LSD is somehow being stored in their body and activated later on. Something similar may be happening when people have a bad experience smoking weed and insist it was "laced" with another drug. LSD is processed by the liver and isn't "stored" anywhere, unless you count blood during the several hours before it's fully metabolized. Also, we already prohibit LSD-driving. Driving recklessly while under the influence of a substance can get you arrested and get your license revoked.

Please be careful about spreading misinformation.

  • I'm not an audiologist but I go to a lot of shows and bars and I care about my hearing. I swear by Flare Earshades and I recommend them all the time.

I've tried Etymotics, Loops, Vibes, Earasers, and a couple other brands, and none of them have the clarity and quality of the Flares. I've worn them comfortably for 8 hours, and music sounds so good I forget I'm wearing them.

This is just my experience, and you'll find lots of positive reviews for other brands, but I wanted to share mine.

  • Coke is absolutely overrated. It's expensive, it doesn't last very long, and even when it's good it just feels like a high dose of Adderall. (I've done a lot of coke and taken a lot of Adderall.) In my experience, coke can be a party killer. People don't want to share this expensive drug with everyone, so they separate from the group and do it in secret. And once I start, every 30 minutes I'm distracted and thinking about the next bump.

MDMA and LSD are practically free compared to coke and alcohol. $10-20 and you're set for the night.

  • "Fitting in is one of the greatest barriers to belonging. Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be in order to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are." -Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

  • For spoken conversations, I think Pimsleur is great. I've used it for several international trips, and locals regularly asked if I lived there. What I like is that it 1. focuses on listening and understanding, 2. instructs you to learn first to pronounce words correctly and only to learn the spelling much later and 3. starts with the most useful phrases and develops from there. Instead of teaching you random vocab words like "milk" and "pants" the first phrase you learn is "I don't understand Spanish." It mixes in repetition and small changes in the just the right amounts so you learn actively instead of just memorizing. I love Pimsleur.

  • The UK episodes are 48 minutes long. I've only ever watched pirated versions, so I'm not sure about commercials. The "American editing" I'm referring to is the quick cuts and dramatic music. It also seems like the producers ask Gordon to play a short-fuse asshole. On the UK version there's a lot of cheeky banter, and in general there's not much animosity between Gordon and the owners.

  • For what it's worth, the UK version of the show has a completely different vibe and I rewatch it frequently. Most of the restaurant owners mean well, and Gordon's kind and patient with them. There are a few stubborn or delusional ones, but all the drama exists naturally without the breakneck American editing. Really a quality show.

  • I mean, I'm all for criticizing Democrats, but this is a very easy claim to make and it could mean nothing at all. "Tom Hanks did not immediately respond to accusations of homicide." Sounds damning but it doesn't really tell us anything.

  • For many people it's the one day of the year they feel special. I think we all deserve that, and it costs me nothing to wish someone a happy birthday. That's not to say I'm required to spend time or money on them, but it doesn't bother me when all they want is a bit of recognition.
